    Default Ennerdale Flake

I'm flipping out just a little over here. I've learned a valuable lesson, one that I already knew but didn't really apply to pipe tobacco. Many months ago, when I first started smoking a pipe again, I tried Ennerdale Flake and HATED it. Not a little either, I mean I loathed this tobacco and couldn't even finish the bowl. So, I tossed the 1oz sample on top of my fridge and forgot about it.

Flash forward to tonight, one hour ago, I decided to clean off the top of my refrigerator and found the sample of this evil weed and almost tossed it. Something inside said to give it another shot, so I loaded up a pipe that I wasn't worried about ghosting with some stinky tobacco. I lit it and couldn't believe this was the same tobacco that I'd hated so badly. No....this was good, great even. I smoked the entire bowl down to nice white ash, and sat there amazed at how good this tobacco was. I'm not certain if it changed or if my tastes had changed.

I've experienced this with Swedish snus before...trying a snus and initially hating it, then coming back months later and finding that I loved it...but I'd never really thought about applying this concept to pipe tobacco. However, I learned tonight that this lesson applies to almost anything and I shouldn't be so quick to judge. Now I understand all the rave reviews of this tobacco. My advice to people that want to try this tobacco should do so with an open mind and if you don't like it at first...put it away for a month or so and then come back to it. You may love it ;-)

I've been experiencing the same thing recently with C&D Mississippi mud and SG chocolate flake.

Now I get to go back and re-try EVERY tobacco I've written off...lol. Thankfully I've saved most of them and won't have to buy them again ;-)

This is one reason Mason Jars are worth their weight in gold. My tastes change seasonally.

QFT. If you don't like it, if you can't finish it, if you bought too much of it, just jar it for later.

A properly sealed mason jar has an insane shelf life. We're talking decades here.
