Just used the Barbershop today. Very nice soap at a great value. The packaging is very cool. Love the scent. Performance was great. Can't wait to get in to the orange stuff.![]()
I initially had issues with the Lime (not the soap but my allergies getting triggered). I didn't have this with PM/RM, P/C, Unscented. I gave it another go today after letting it air out for a couple of weeks and it's all good, no allergies! I love the lime as it is not sickly sweet but actually a bit "tangy", just like a lime should be!
I am loving all four flavours from Mike plus the lavandin/eucalyptus sample is excellent! I don't get the face fire like I do with pure lavender scents. These soaps are really top notch and I don't have any urge to buy any other soap...my collection of MWF, Speick and Mike's is the ultimate soap rotation for me.

Tried for two weeks, always too thin found it wasn't as thirsty as y'all make it out to be. When using extra water never could build any lather when drier than I normally use a soap could get some but not as protective as Trumpers, Harris or Sante.
QCS is hands down the best performing croap I have ever used, but the scents are hit or miss for me, and my all-time favorite from QCS is Mysore Sandalwood. Best performing croap/cream/soap I have ever used. At first I hated their products and they did not perform well, but revisited them later on and it was magic! I recently sold some stuff on the BST and used the funds to go on a cream and soap shopping spree! Ordered a few more of the scents I like from QCS (Hamani, Vostok, Cayman and Green Irish Tweed type.
After reading so many posts about Mike's Natural Soaps, and having some loot left over after the QCS purchase I also decided to order a few of his soaps. Several were out of stock, so the choices weren't abundant, but I ordered three scents: Lime, Lavandin & Eucacyptus, and Lemongrass & Eucalyptus. Stoked to see how these perform since so many regard them as highly as they do for QCS.
... the whole thing is always about YMMV and that's why we all compare notes. Water is one of the great variables in this world of ours. I love the input.
Are you happier in general with the brands you name? I know I have my preferences. We all do. And man, some of them are harder to work out the right mix than others.![]()

I do not suffer from Insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.
I'm the opposite. I can't get enough of the fruity scents. His orange smells wonderful. I have KMF lime, which I love. I have cremo, which is orange. I got a Mike's Rose and Cedarwood and I haven't decided if I can conquer the scent. It smells too much like a grandma to me.

Has anyone tried using the brick like stick soap? Rubbing the brick on their beard then using a wet brush to face lather.

I tried it and didn't like it as it is not a super solid soap, I got too much on my face and the result was lather flying all over the place. If I had used less, I don't see why it wouldn't work. I like Mike's in a container as I find taking a wet brush creates a near perfect lather in the loading process and doesn't take long to finish it off by face lathering.

I went ahead and ordered the unscented .......... now the wait!!![]()
Opened up the Orange, Cedarwood, and Pepper bar today and crammed it in to my Old Spice mug (the bar fills the mug over 3/4 by the way). Used my Semogue 1305 boar with it...and the lather was even better. I used my Thater 3 band on it before. I got good results, but not as good as with the 1305. Another fantastic scent and excellent performance.
Ahh...now I've got 2 Old Spice mugs filled with Mike's. Life is good.
And the menthol idea sounds brilliant to me. And as soon as I run out of Yardley's I'm getting some of his bath soaps too.
Yesterday I shaved using MB and a new blade. I got a pretty good shave. Today I shaved using Mike's and the same blade. The difference in shaving comfort and closeness was amazing. MB soap worked well, but Mike's worked great. Nothing between the two shaves changed except my blade had one more usage and the soap.
I know that the soap comparison may not be quite fair in that MB is glycerin based while Mike's is tallow. So, I'm only reporting that the soap used seemed to make a hugh difference in comfort and closeness.
gents I am new to soaps (aside from arko) and just started using DR Harris Lavender. It's a great soap but i could use some more slickness. Maybe it's just me. ( I have arko, proraso red and razorock famiglia in rotation and love these)
How does this compare to say Harris? I have yet to use MWF but I saw the ingredients contain tallow and shea butter. seems like a great product at the price. (also hoping to set up a gift set for my brother)
You guys make this difficult. I went on his site to buy a sample, or three, and I pay $3 shipping for 1 sample. Or, $3 for 3. Basically, I'm forcing myself to try 2 I really aren't thrilled about because what I really want to try is the Bay Rum. When I really look at it, its $9 for the whole puck - which tells me I should just order the damn thing. See what you ALL do to me?

For me it is not the tallow in Mike's soaps it is the lanolin that makes my face feel so good, much like MWF
