I shaved with the 200T synthetic this morning, bowl lathered with T&H lavender. It took longer to build the lather than with my silvertips, but I eventually worked up a good amount of lather. Painted it on, and it was silky smooth. I am definitely going to have to practice with the synthetic. At first I was pushing down into the cream, but when I backed off and let the tips do all the work, that seemed to go better.

Gary and others, I welcome your suggestions on lathering with a synthetic!

That is right, let the tips do the work. That is where the brush generates most of the lather (at the contact point either with mug or face).

Update: I've been working with the 200T synth for a while now, and while I wasn't sure at first if it was a keeper, I'm starting to get the hang of it. I don't know if synths break in; maybe it's my technique that's breaking in.
