Don't worry, we all did. It was fun to watch at least. For a second, I actually thought I had a chance.

I threw a bid in early in the day. I knew it wasn't in my budget this week so, I watched. Congrats again!

Stan, I'd be very interested in knowing what year it is from when you get it, just as a curiosity. I'd watched it for several days, like others, hoped not many had it spotted. When the lot went past $35, I was pretty sure it'd been spotted. Was going to bid late, but realized it would outstrip my budget for it (3 from 1905 in the den already, I wasn't highly motivated, but would love to fine an example from '04, '03 or even '06).

Best of luck finding a case for it, it could happen. I actually found an incorrect razor in a Double Ring style case and bought it on eBay, then found the uncased Double Ring to match it just 2 or 3 weeks later!

I put a bid in too at the last second, but it was not to be. Congrats, Stan!

I am also realizing that everybody sees everything on ebay. The days of a magical razor hiding out in a nondescript lot are gone. Are we all nuts that we will spend all of this time squinting at pictures looking for the diamond hidden among the cubic zirconia? I think we are suffering a mental disorder.

I agree. I think I'm done with the 'bay. Although I just bought something not too long ago... Well, now I'm done.

I was just flipping through looking for mugs actually, and there it was. First though it was a Single Ring looked closer realized what it was. In the end was lucky enough to win it.

Well, it wasn't just the double ring. It was a lot of several razors, two brushes, and some old blades.

True, but I'm guessing a majority of the value is tied to the double ring? I have no idea how to value old brushes so when I go antiquing I always pass them by.

Yes, the majority being for the Double Ring.

It's a Durham Duplex. Completely worthless because you can't get blades that fit it.

Thanks, Randall. It didn't look familiar at all, now I know why.

Ah, that is not exactly correct. The handle fits the Tech and most 3 piece razors and is very nice. Heavy, ergonomic and all around nice handle. Vast improvement in weight to the fat Tech handle. It's solid instead of hollow.

Just ran across this in another thread: Posted by
    gregindallas

I acquired a Fatip from BullGoose as an experiment for a Durham handle. It's a razor with a fairly crude fit and finish but so's the Durham so it's a match. Crude or not, Fatips have a bigger than normal head and fits the Durham handle to a "T". Weight, balance and performance are about perfect. The finishes match. I think my Durham handle has finally found the head it's been waiting for.
