I was surprised to find out that the muhle's replacement knots are 'screw-on".

I imagine a day when all brushes are manufactured this way. Then all we shavers can match and pair the handles with the knots of our choice...

No more dremel. No more epoxy. Just screw it into place

Here is my own variation. They're not quite new (2007). and it's not quite a Wee Scot...

For the record, not all Muhle knots are replacement types with screw-in bases. Most knots from their existing lines of brushes are available as well by special order.

I received the same info while attempting to order a 19mm Silvertip Fibre. Below is the email I received.

    Dear Mr. Ellis,

the bundle sells for 12,95 EUR plus 15,00 EUR shipping to the US. You can either pay per PayPal or credit card.
If you are interested, please reply with your full address details.

mit freundlichen Grüßen / best regards

Like you, I think I'll just stick with the TGN knot.

It seems like someone should make this a reality. I can imagine one threaded handle that has a deep cavity. Then you could adjust the loft height by using different threaded linkers/couplers.
Please don't tempt me to buy anymore.

My Mühle Stylo Thuja wood 21 mm Silvertip Fibre brush has that same screw on know, so you can exchange the knot quite easily

But I also own the Mühle Sophist Black resin shaving set and the brush from that set does not have the same unscrew type of knot though.

    Fingers crossed.

However, I think a standard cavity for handles should suffice (may need to cater for weight to balance higher loft).
Density, loft and knots (of your choice or sold as standard) are pre-set in the screw-on cap.
We can just drop into any hardware store or supermarket, and pick the handles and knots of our choice. Buy a set, and viola!, and we are good to go! Don't like the backbone? Just come back for a higher loft brush 'head'

I can just imagine myself walking into a store with shelves carrying different densities, knots, loft, bands, hair, shapes, and handles with different heights and shapes. Wet shavers utopia.

How dense and how big do these knots feel on the face?

I'm thinking about trying one, and after getting my 28mm H.I.S. synthetic I'm worried the Muhle will feel to small at 25mm. The H.I.S. is a good brush but it feels so small on the face. The narrow 28mm that wont bloom feels more like a 22~24mm on the face IMO so I'm curious how big the 25mm might feel here.

Also, I know synthetics dont always need the extreame density that traditional brushes might benefit from when face lathering. However, I still prefer the face feel of a denser brush. How is the density on these things? Again the H.I.S works wonderfully, but it feels a bit anemic to this face lathering fanatic.

Finally, do these come with the metal ring on them? The OP has the only pic of a brush made with one, and it has a ring, but that could just as easily have been part of the handle.

Think BLK8, Seth. They are super soft, med density, some scrub but not much. Silvertip fans should love them.

Thanks Ken! I guess I should plan on setting the loft low then.

It came like that, but the collar appeared to be plastic to me. I think with a little care, you could easily trim it away with no impact to the knot's integrity.

How do these compare with the H.I.S. knots?
