    Default First razor and shave

My sight unseen razor came in today and I am super stoked. I think it looks great. Now if i could get my fresh shaved face to look as good. I think I did good on my cheeks but man is my neck a red burney bleedy mess. Practice makes perfect I guess. I am looking forward to as many painful necks as it takes to get my first bbs shave. The razor i got is a Lander Frary & Clark from Larry and I'm also using a silver tip badger brush from him. I got the scuttle from pottersong and the shave oil/cream/aftershave from mundus both on etsy. Stuff smells great!

    Congrats!

Don't go for BBS for a while. You will get it as you get experience. If you are bleeding, it means you tried too hard. No sense in that since you can build experience and it will come without trauma. I usually go for DFS and no blood. It lasts from early to mid-morning to well into the night. I get BBS every now and then but it is sometimes just by accident. I don't go for perfect.

Thanks ladykate. Yeah there were quite a few times when I just knew I was pressing to hard or that I didnt feel like the way I was moving the blade was correct. Like you said I'm sure it will come with experience. Thanks for the advice!

I'm about a month in and just starting to get really decent shaves. Stick with it and light on the pressure......be the razor

Congrats! Necks are notorious for wacky hair growth patterns. My neck went from red/bleedy to better when I realized WTG is N/S for chin to about halfway down, and S/N from there on down (with a swirl on the left). Maybe double check your beard direction?
Me to wife (truth!): "Does she really need all these Barbie dolls? You only need two to have a conversation. Why so many?"
Wife, not skipping a beat: "It's kinda like your straight razors..."

For my neck, I just go for no overly visible hair. I've yet to find ANY kind of razor to give me a decent neck shave without major irritation.
