^ Akir2a: I shaved with the Fatip with the DE89 head top and did notice s slight difference in the shave; I feel the 1904 head performed better by placing a slightly different pressure on the blade--this shave felt a little harsh as I think the blade edge gap felt a bit wider to me. Still got a good shave, but not as smooth as with the 1904 head top. I have sensitive skin so I do feel subtle differences in blade gaps--the minor additional difference in head-top width may have slightly opened the blade gap. The feel might be agreeable to some others, but I found it uncomfortable. If I can find a handle similar to the DE89 that fits the smaller lug/threads on Fatip's head, I'll likely buy it. Hope this helps.

DEGuy, I see that your measurements of the top plate make them seem identical, but the picture of your Frankenrazor makes it look like that head actually decreases blade exposure quite a bit.

That could explain why the razor seems tamer or less aggressive; the FaTip head gives plenty of blade exposure. It also bends the blade quite a bit. These are two of the features that pretty much make the FaTip what it is.

Explain to me again why you are not using the FaTip in its native state?

Kingfisher: The only reason I chose not to use my Fatip as sent from the factory is that I didn't like the lightweight handle and its length. But I realize to 'feel' the Fatip completely I have decided to buy a handle that fits my Fatip's head's lug. Thing is, it's a smaller size lug than found on many other razors, so I'll have to find a savvy seller to point me to a handle that will fit the razor's head. Your point is a good one and I believe that you're right in your observation.

Have you not seen the fatip thread alex started about what handles will fit the fatips?

Well i took a evening shave with the FaTip 1 hour ago. A experimental one because i dont have the plan to use it daily yet. But i think we can be friends!
Just 1 wtg with a new Shark ss gave me a quite decent shave and shows how extremly effective this razor really is! Its not love yet maybe but i like it quite much!

Well, you have to be friends before any relationship can be established....so lets all be Fatip friends

I got a twit from Phil at bullgoose today that a new shipment of GOLD fatips are in. I had my fatip bulldog for less than a week and a handful of shaves but just had to order a gold one... Yes they are that good! I know aesthetically they don't get high remarks in the forums but I am curious to see how the gold looks.

If anyone is interested I will post pics when it arrives in a couple of days.

Ok ladies and gentlemen,I tried my best on pic's.Sadly this is the best my camera can do.


I tried to show the Chrome Grande handle,the FaTip chrome Grande head with UFO Godzilla handle and the FaTip nickel Grande.It's a shame you can't really tell how nice the knurling is on Godzilla but at least it's a general idea on how it looks.

Now as to the shave, wowsa!!!!! Way different than the Tradere FaTip.I did my usual 2 pass face,1 pass head,I did screw up a lil and I used a Perma-Sharp Super instead of the Astra Sp's that I normally use in my FaTips.Godzilla made the FaTip very efficient and very smooth,and yes more aggressive.More like a very smooth r41 Grande than a Joris.My face and head were still almost BBS @ 11pm,and I could have skipped the headshave today(I didn't).I was eyeing the r41 Grande and the Godzilla side by side and they're pretty close in size and fatness,Gojira may be a lil fatter and definately heavier.

I have to say I'm impressed,the FaTip Chrome Grande was already a solid shave with the Godzilla handle it became a truly great razor.The weight and width may be too much for some people,in that case I would recommend the Kaiser,personally I like a heavier razor especially for headshaves,but that's just my preference.Also I'm not getting a Joris vibe out of this combo,it's more of it's own thing,but I'll need a few more shaves under my belt before I can say for sure.

LOL,dont forget the 43 guitars,20 guitar amps and a brand new espresso machine,that I'm trying to figure out.SWMBO thrashed my last good camera,so she's getting this crappy one.I'll get a new camera pretty soon,looking at the Canon.Actually I do have a cell phone but I hardly use it,it's not a smart phone.I'm retired so getting a smart phone right now is overkill for me.

Am I the only one using a stock handle on a Fatip?
Seriously though, I've been off work for 10 straight days, and now that I'm back at it I decided to try a milder blade in the picollo as I shave daily for work. A Wal Mart Wilkie (I still have about 20 of these from my early DE buying hinge). And guess what? This razor performs great with it!
