This new UFO Kaiser handle looks amazing - I can't wait! It will have to pull double duty because I recently bought a Hoffritz open comb (not slant) travel razor. I didn't care about the little travel handle; I wanted the head. I thought it might be a Merkur, but it doesn't look the same as the other Merkur open comb head I own. - can anybody identify it?

I took the thing apart already. I got a mediocre shave with it and it was the mildest open comb I ever experienced. It has a large top so there is very little blade exposure. I thought maybe I had found something special - no luck. I get a better, closer shave with a Jagger.

Oops, missed your reply Alex. Strange sampler, it seems to have come from different vendors in quantities of 50 & 100.

So far my top 4 seems to be:

    1. Personna Lab Blue
    2. SuperMax Super Platinum
    3. Red IP/Crystal
    4. Astra SP

Having said that all of these blades give me a good shave in the Fatip and I could be happy if I only had those blades to use. I just like using different blades which is good since I have the following in my stash:

    100 Personna Lab Blue
    200 Astra SP
    300 SuperMax Super Platinum
    100 Perma-Sharp
    200 Voskhod
    80 Red IP
    80 Crystal
    70 Gillette Black
    50 Bolzano
    50 Gillette Silver Blue
    50 Feather
    50 Croma
    + assorted odds & sods

May need to order some more Lab Blues......

No nicks, cuts or weepers but a heck of an AS burn for a short time. Liking my Fatip more and more.

Astra SP, SuperMax Super Platinum, Gillette Yellow, Personna Lab Blues, Red IP & Crystals have all been nice in this razor for me but none have given me the AS burn like the Super Thins.

Still to try Gillette Black, Gillette Silver Blue, Croma, Bolzano, Perma-Sharp and Voskhod in the Fatip. This could take a while, thank goodness I'm not going anywhere in a hurry.
A big info for me. I'm going through my arsenal, so I'll have this in mind

I am down to three blades for all of my razors - Astra SP's, Preps and Feathers. The Joris/Plisson with a Feather is the best, closest shave of all, but can be a little irritating. The Personnas and Astras are "just right" for an irritation-free BBS. I don't find the FaTip to be as aggressive as the J/P so I usually use Feathers in the FaTip.

I pulled the trigger on a Joris spiral last night from Bullgoose. I plan to first try the Astra SP which is my go to workhorse blade in OC's and slants. Like you, my other choices are Feather and Personnas.

That's a gorgeous razor. I've been eyeing it, and the horn handle. FaTip/PMJ is up to bat in tonights lineup...

Gus: Mazel tov! That's the same one I have. I'll be interested to see if it comes in a Joris box or a box with no name on it. If there's no name on the box, you're going to have to get used to calling it your "Plisson".

No name on the box mine came in. But it was found under joris razors on bullgooseshaving so I'm calling it a joris. I just ordered a kaiser UFO handle for my r41. May have to get a fatip as well. Can't wait to get it.
