  1. Default another Aussie adventure begins

    Hi all,

im just beginning on my straight razor shave quest for the smooth feel that i crave. I'm using a shavette at the moment but im about to move to a proper straight so i'm here for advice and tips.

looking forward to being a part of the community here and enjoying my shaving experience with you all.

    Regards

    FE

It's only an Aussie adventure if you shave with a bit of sharpened corrugated iron that you pulled off your verandah. Otherwise it's just a shaving adventure and there's nothing Aussie about it.

I'm not one to use stereotypes but shouldn't it be tempered in a barbie before sharpening it on a lump of Uluru?

Oh yeah, and welcome to the mad house.

    Welcome to the family mate.
You're a braver man than I am, I have a straight razor and it scares the hell out of me. There is no way I would actually shave with it again once was enough, there is just too much very sharp steel getting too close to shallow arteries.
Oh the rule around here is that if there are no photos it never happened ... and no swearing or sheep jokes.

A shavette is harder to use than a straight razor - basically because it is so easy to cut yourself with the corners of the half blade.
Thus it should be plain sailing with the straight.

That's certainly how I do it anyway. Is there a different way?
