Default Going through my blade sampler: Dorco blades

I bought a blade sampler when I bought a SS from Razor Emporium, and so far I like pretty much all the blades I've tried. With the exception of Feather: ignoring sound advice ("leave the Feathers at the end"), I left my face all bloody. But that was a long time ago, and I have had hardly a nick or even irritation with any of the blades I've tried: Gillette Super Thin Mejorada (bought in Mexico), Personna (bought as generic blades in local grocery store, Kroger), Wilkinson (bought in WalMart, so far the cheapest blades I've used), Astra Superior Stainless, and Personna Platinum (blue wrapper). If I had to choose a favorite among these, I'd say that the Astra SS, but I think all of them have been fine. But last week I opened my 5-blade packet of Dorcos and I was very impressed. It was a great shave, a smooth blade that made it all very easy. But I don't know that I have seen around here much praise for Dorco. Maybe I haven't been paying attention. What do you think about the Dorco blades?

Which Dorcos? I am a fan of Dorco ST301. I am currently comparing them to Derby Extra and Wilkinson Sword Classics. I am trying to get myself down to a single choice of blade.
I have far too much stuff to even begin to list it here...

How do the Dorco ST 301 compare to the Dorco sold at Dollar General? Different Dorco blade or same blade? At DG they come in packs of 5 in a plastic dispenser ($1).

Dorcas were not good for me. Less sharp than most others. For me, the best blades I have found are Astras and Feathers. All others pull and tug to one degree or another. I think one thing to keep in mind (amongst 5000 other things to think about in wet shaving) is the relationship between "caliber"and "accuracy"...one is technique, and one is technical.

I didn't like either the 300 or the 301. Just didn't seem sharp enough for my beard.

It is an ST-300, I didn't even know there were more than one kind. I obviously was not as impressed the first time I tried them: I just noticed that the box has three blades. It should have four, since I thought I had used only this one. That means I used one before and didn't remember it.

In any case, I stand by my original post: I really liked it. On with the rest of the sample pack.

Here's my 2 cents, blades are truly a personal choice. I have tried dozens of different blades and to be honest, sometimes I cannot tell the difference between one or another. So from personal experience I can tell you that the Dorco ST-301 is the blade that works best for me in my NEW Big Fellow. I don't know why but it does. Does it work well in other razors I use, yes. Do I think it is a good as my Red Isaeli Personnas, no.

There, you have it, my 2 cents.

Just shaved with a Dorco ST-301 today for the first time and it was a good shave. I had tried the 300's before and it was not a pleasant experience. Today's shave was with a Gillette Old Type and it was enjoyable, I will save my final opinion until I have gotten a few shaves on this blade. YMMV

I just used the st-300 blade for the first time today in my r41 and I was impressed. In fact, it just might be the best shave I have ever gave myself. The five pack of the 300's came in a sample pack I bought almost two years ago and because of reviews of most not liking them and saying the 301's were sharper, plus I didn't like the 301's, I never used them. Well this morning I was schooled! lol First experience with this blade, in this razor(r41) is I really really like them. I view them as sharp as the7 O'clock yellows but tons more forgiving.
