Default Can I make a wired printer wireless?

I have a home office. My company supplies a laptop that is currently running XP. I should be getting a new computer shortly that is running Windows 7. They also provided a HP office jet 6500 wired printer. My company is slow to change on technology. My office is no where near the wireless router. I am wondering if there is a device or attachments that I can attach to the printer and laptop that would enable me to have my printer become wireless?

I hate having cables lying around. Also, I would like to be able to move my printer else where in my office.

    Thanks for any help.

The device you are looking for is a Wireless Print Server.

    TigerDirect has it for $61.99.

For $2 less, you can buy a wireless printer.

You should check ahead of time and see if the company will reimburse you for any purchases. Probably, they won't, but you can get a tax deduction for job-related expenses. You ARE taking a deduction for your home office, right?

Thanks for the information. I will look at those.

In regards to the home office deduction, we are already taking it because my wife runs a CPA business out of our home.

Just use a Cat5 and connect to a wireless router that is in bridge mode. Expands your wireless coverage and a router is usually available cheap and more versatile than a print server.

Newegg has that print server for a couple bucks less but has less than stellar reviews (2 out of 5 with 7 reviews).
