    Default Progress check in... :-)

Well, 4 weeks into the new hobby and things are coming along pretty well. Thanks again for all the helpful hints! For the first couple weeks or so I was trying my new HD with the Derby's and then the Astra's and TOB Sandalwood.

Then I tried a Feather blade and Proraso sensitive skin soap for the last 4 day's. That has been going well and I'm getting respectable work shaves in 2 passes. Irritation has been more minimal and I even noticed a large degree of less "stingy" feelings this morning with the alum bar.

Sooo.... taking B&B common advice this will be the combo I will stick with for at least the next couple weeks. I will take the B&B advice and try and show some self control and discipline and not change things up even though the RAD possessed me to order an EJ89 razor which is sitting there gleaming on my counter. Also I will add that the Feather blade has helped me to develop more of a beard reduction method and lighter touch - probably out of slight fear I got from reading about them here. But I've had no cuts or weepers and probably less irritation as I work on my light touch.

Also I've been face lathering with the soap which I enjoy and it seems to save a minute or two in the morning. Also in between passes I splash water all over my face and then re-lather not worrying about getting all the lather remnants off my face. Another minute saved. I am NOT rushing at all but have the shave to about 15 minutes or so. And that is 15 minutes of very enjoyable time!!

The one part I'm still struggling with is the whiskers right below my nose. Still having to detail after each shave in that area. I splash a little water and take the top of the razor and get to it after a try or two. Maybe that will just be part of the routine.

At about the same place for me more or less. Have the same issues under my nose but I'm cool with being extra careful there. Even with the Mach 3 that was where I'd always nick myself pretty bad when I wasn't careful.

Taking my time and moving my nose up and to the side I can get it cleaned up nicely with my Gillette Super Speed '57 Flare. Like you've I've also got a EJ89 sitting there waiting pretty.

    Enjoy that EJ. Great piece!

Whiskers below the nose? Move the nose aside with finger for WTG down, they take another stroke that follows the angle of the nostril wings from the outside of the nostril to the center on each side (kind of the two sides of a vee) , using the corner of the razor (as opposed to the blade) to guide right against the old schnozola. Then go second pass XTG from outide to the center. I sometimes have to do a third pass ATG if I want to be kissing smooth. Voila!
Wishing I was back on the AT.
