    Default Acquisitions for July 2012

Hello friends. A few days ago I could get a BRW Bull Mastiff XL Deluxe, second hand, of course. I have received today. It is very well done. Very high quality. I love it, and I am extremely happy to have done it in a state like new.

The family and I went on a short trip to the twin cities, MN. Along the route, a few antique shops called my name and this is what I found.

    A Carl Monkhouse, C MON blackie 6/8

And a Thuringen hone 6x2 (pictured on left next to another I had on right)

I'm very happy with the Clubman and the Palmolive stick. The Osage Rub (or should I say Osage Rub) is for a day when I need a slap in the face to get me going.

What I'm happiest about, though, are the twist-up stick cases. I got three in the 2 oz. size and one 3/4 ounce. The larger size is perfect for my shaving sticks.

So far I have scored two tubs of Proraso, a Tabac stick, a Irish Moos stick and MWF in the ceramic bowl. I was on vacation to Venice, Italy and NYC. I travel light so I had to buy stuff that was solid to get around those pesky airline rules. The Proraso is straight from Venice, the rest from Pasteur's Pharmacy. 1.85 euros each for the Proraso, perhaps I should have filled the suitcase with tubs and jettisoned everything else....

I've had a serious case of RAD. I've picked up a DE89L, 34C, R41 and a nice little Gillette ball end. And just for good measure an AOS sandalwood lot and an Ogallala bay rum sampler. And it's only the 7th...it's going to be a long month.

    Thumbs up

What Grump didn't say was that he didn't buy these at an antique store I recommended he visit! He had a good trip and I finally decided to buy these before they went away forever!
    Thank you Grump!

    First buyings of the month:

A couple of lovely Jabonman soaps (really good spanish artisan products) and an inexpensive 4711 after shave I found in Ebay (I would prefer Arlington line instead, but too expensive for my current funds...)

    Cheers!
Please, excuse my written English, I'm Spanish and still learning... ;-)

I needed a razor to use, so I headed out to some local antique shops. I checked out the various makers I found, and got good info from B&B here, so I thought I'd share my new user. It's got cosmetic issues--someone carelessly sandpapered it, and it had a chip in edge and very uneven honewear. I got it in working order right away, and the folks at the antique shop were surprised I was actually going to use it. I guess that's why it was $26 with the case.
