    Smile My First Straight Razor

I joined this site because I've always wanted a straight razor, as I feel that safety razors are an insult to my intelligence. I would truly appreciate any advice, help, or other assistance, and although I have an extremely limited budget, as an 18 year old working my way through senior year, if anyone feels like selling me a razor at a decent price I would willingly pay for it. I would do it myself, but while I have a good deal of experience with knives and swords, and am even confident that I could strop a razor, having gotten hold of my friend's strop and used it to shave with a pocketknife (because like I said, safety razors insult my intelligence;) And at one point sharpened a Claymore to a ridiculously fine edge over the summer out of pure boredom; I don't have any experience with buying vintage razors and can't afford a new one. Also, reading all the horror stories about Ebay sellers has scared me off of jumping into buying a vintage razor myself. I live in Florida, have moderately dense hair, wear it in a goatee and plan on keeping any blade I get for quite a while. Thank you all for reading, and for any assistance you can give me.

In what part of Florida do you live? I would hit up garage/yard/estate sales in areas where there are a lot of retirees. That tends to be an excellent source of vintage shaving stuff.

I live on the east coast, by the ocean. Would Orlando be a good place to look? And thank you again.

Look anywhere there is a large concentration of retirees, ie people who may be getting rid of vintage shaving stuff. I don't know about Orlando.

I've hit some antique shops in Orlando / Winter Park, Mt. Dora, etc - not much really, and if anything I can do better on ebay.

Anyway - I see you got PM - best of luck. If you need anything else - maybe I can help, I am also in FL

    Good luck

Why don't you PM me your address and I'll send you out a shave ready straight razor to get you started. When you get more money, you can pass it on to another new guy.
