This does beg the question as to how the Germans seem to get more consistent brush characteristics than the English. I've probably gone through 3 dozen Simpson brushes to arrive at the 6 I use regularly. That simply hasn't been the case with my Thaters & Shavemacs. It's not that I love every one I pick up, but they do seem to achieve greater uniformity within a specific model.
