    Default Allen Edmond shoe sizing...help!

I took some advice from one of our fellow B&B members and bought a few used pair of Allen Edmonds. I usually wear 12.5 or 12 wides. I received a pair of AE Hillcrest's 12 EEE (extra wide) and they were to small. A little tight, but def to short. I could get my feet in them, but they were uncomfortable to walk in. I was surprised because I normally wear 12 wide's in Rockports and they fit perfectly.

I guess I need to go up to a 13...here's my question--Do I need to buy a 13 medium, wide or extra wide?
Ben - Chicago sports fan, just had TWINS 12/19!
Favs: Eclipse, Joris, FaTip, Senator, R41--Rare Finds: Eclipse, Double Ring, Toggle, Sticky, Ziglar, Barbasol

AE has like a dozen or more lasts. A last is the wooden form they use to make the shoe around. The thing is you need to go to
an AE store or someplace that sells them and try the diff. lasts on...Once you find the sizes in each last you'll know.
On their website they tell you which last they use on each model. Hope this helps.

+1. I have a pair of Park Aves that are tight on me but the same size for a Benton fits more comfortably due to the difference in lasts. Definitely try them on if you can. The Hillcrest uses a 4-234 last which according to AE's website:
    "4 Last (234)
Modeled after the 7 last but with a fuller, squared-off toe."

If you can't try them on, I would probably get a 13 wide or 13E.
Please don't tempt me to buy anymore.

I would go to a store that sells AE shoes and have your feet properly measured. Do this in the late afternoon after you were on your feet all day. Feet do get "bigger" during the day and a good advice is only to buy shoes after you have been on your feet a good time. Never buy shoes on a Saturday morning - ask why I know this....
You can check then the AE site and look for shoes that are made after a last that has fuller cut. I get normally 11.5 E and do not have a problem, I buy them often from AE online or call them.
