MW lathers up just fine, whether I use a badger, boar or synthetic brush. Plus the aroma--oh, the aroma--of orange/vanilla. Who cares how long it takes to whip . . . just so long as you can smell the stuff.

FWIW, I whip up plain MW lather first (I am a bowl latherer, and now use a Robert Becker scuttle), then add my favorite uberlather goodies. It just makes great lather even better.

The shaves ain't bad either. Slick, quick and painless using an R41 with Astra SPs.

I figure I owe myself at least two more MW flavors. They are good enough to eat, never mind shave with.

After a day outside in this HOT weather, I knew exactly what to grab to cool off! MW Prosper Creek, man the feeling between each lather, and the cold splash after was awesome. So cool!

    So today's shave...

I have the Orange/Vanilla as well as the Lavender Lime which is a great combination. Michelle also sent me a sample of the Cedar & Sage and that is really nice as well.

The exact two I got! Not lavender the O.V. & cedar sage.

How many shaves do you typically get out of a sample slice ?
I've got plenty on the way, and other options too. Just wondering.

I would guess maybe 8-10 depending on how heavy you load and what type of brush you use.

Based on the sample of lily of the valley I used up, you could get up to 20 shaves out of a sample

Great question. I face lather and have used boar, badger, and horse hair brushes. My favorite brush to use with MW soap is a 24mm Super Silvertip badger from TGN in an Ever Ready handle I restored and my second favorite is a Semogue 1305.

While it is not necessary, I find it much easier to lather MW soaps if I let a little water sit on top of the soap for 10-20 min (while I'm in the shower) prior to loading. By letting some water soak into the soap, that's just less water you need to add later and it softens the soap making it a little easier to load. If you watch the videos I made, I did not soak the samples first, so it can be done easily either way.

Are there any MW scents that are not good?
I got samples of the Mysore Sandalwood, Bay Rum and Lime thinking that would help me make a decision. They're all great!
Leaning towards Bay Rum, but could be swayed....

I ordered 8 different samples and I thought all of them were pleasing. There were a couple I liked more than other, but they really were all good.

Scent is such an individual thing I'm not sure how anyone could answer the question with regard to your preferences. In my case, I ended up being crazy about Marrakesh because I'm not a bit patchouli fan. Others have loved it.

I just posted that I wish my Arko smelled more, that's how YMMV I am!

Michelle's scents are all tastefully done. So if you like that scent family, you'll likely enjoy the soaps in that scent.

I don't like sandalwood and I'm allergic to cedar, so that takes some of them off the table. I don't like Bay Rum, so I've never smelled her Bay Rum.

They are all nice, though. These are scented by somebody with a good sense for scent and a lot of soapmaking experience.
