    Default Razor Restore in progress

    still a work in progress..400-1k sanding doe for today..finishing up in a few days 1200-2k grit!

    spine has a few more spots..back too..I hope 1200+ grits will get em out..though I was told use dremel...but heating the blade makes me nervous at high speed..jimps on top and bottom..completely dark..cant do much there..will leave "as is" there

    I have a Joseph Elliot from about the same era that I love shaving with. I used it yesterday, it's a beast. Good luck with the restore, post pics after you get finished.

    It sounds like you do have a Dremel but hesitate to use it. If so,, get one of the little wire brushes and it'll clean up the jimps just fine. Also, using it to polish out the pits in the spine ( using a small drum type sanding attachment ) shouldn't cause any overheating. The metal is pretty heavy here. And an occasional dip in water will keep it cool just to be safe. It will remove these without much trouble. Quite a bit of metal needs to be removed to eliminate the pits but it will blend OK.

    I actually only have flitz/woolpad #000 and sandpaper grits..thats it..so..no dremel
