    You're manufacturing a Slant? Nice. :)

As a side note, I liked reading the bit where you talk about how complex the geometry is and you're fine-tuning the plans, etc. It makes it sound like a tiny country with a startup nuclear program. The Germans are the Keepers of the Secret of the Slant(tm) and stand by watching silently as another manufacturer tries to figure it out.

With the solid bar model, will the cap be in any way different from the OC model? Or will the only change from the OC be the base plate? I'm asking cause if the only change is the base plate, I'd rather just buy the solid bar base plate than buy the base + cap.

Package the razor in a simiple cardboard box like Merkur does. The box you're considering is overkill. I have your OC and your original box and while I always love to get more stuff, as much as I hate to admit this, the fact is I have no use at all for the box. It sits in a drawer and no doubt will eventually end up going to a church charity. The razor will be passed down to the next generation, but I don't think the box will.

If you had some custom boxes made of a high quality material such as a good quality wood or steel, and sold those as separate accessories, I bet you'll sell out.

I just received a Tradere OC and I must say, the craftsmanship is perfect and beautiful. I'm already planning on picking up the next two models (and more, when they're developed). Can you make a modern injector for the Feather blades? That would be fantastic.

I'm also in favor of a cheap box or no box to keep the costs down for you and for us. Perhaps you could make it an option to purchase a nice box if someone wanted it. I'm guessing there may be those that want to save them as a collector's item.

I agree the packaging could be far less, but I am happy I have one of the large plastic cases. Sure, it's not a case I will display, but I like the fact it is large enough to store the razor handle, the OC razor head, and the SB and slant heads I plan on picking up once they are released. Also room for a slightly shorter handle WHEN Tradere decides to make one....hint, hint :)

I'm wondering...I already have the Tradere handle and it works great with my Muhle R89. Is it possible to purchase just the OC head?

Let me know if u need my assistance with that slantbar geometry. I did flunk it twice in high school, so I should be pretty handy in remedying the problems.....CANT WAIT FOR THE SLANT!!! :)

Just to let you know, final testing of the new solid bar is almost complete. I am just waiting for few more testers to report. The materials are all ordered and coming in, so production will be starting shortly. Normally, my independent testers tend to make their comments to me privately, but this tester had asked if he could blog about our new model and I said sure, so long as he noted it was a prototype he was testing, which he kindly did. So, here is the first review of our SB (solid bar) model, posted today: http://leisureguy.wordpress.com/2012/07/13/mama-bear-and-the-new-tradere-straight-bar/.

I really like this Tradere—the straight-bar baseplate. I received only the prototype baseplate to try, so it works with the same cap and handle. There may be some changes before final production, but so far as I’m concerned, it’s perfect the way it is: a very smooth, very comfortable, and very efficient shave, totally enjoyable.

I really hope this is true for the official release! I would love to be able to only buy the base plate and use my existing Tradere OC hardware.

Thanks for linking to this preview/review. It does a nice job describing the new solid bar vs. the open comb. I'm looking forward to this product as well as the slant.

I own the OC Tradere, the Muhle R41 Grande, Vision 2000 and the Weber DLC/Classic (and 2 or 3 dozen SE/DE/Rolls Razors, etc..); it will be interesting to see exactly where the new closed comb fits in the mix.

I think some of you are missing the point of a nice case...it's the tradition of good razor makers to send their products off to the new owner in a classy well-made package. That's why vintage razors with a case in good shape adds a lot to the price and collectable value.

What about an OC and CC Tradere? Is that in the works?
