  1. Default First shave with a Feather

Thanks to Landri, today tried a Feather on my Gillete Twist.

Amazing difference over my locally available schicks.

Followed usual Feathers advice for very careful, short strokes, as well as paid special mind to the level of pressure I was putting on the head (still tend to overdo it on my neck).

Happy to report no annihilation of my skin, cuts, scrapes or significant irritation so far. Amazingly close and nice shave, now I understand how you can do a 4 pass and get close! ;)

Great, thanks forposting. I have a feather blade in a sampler pack I bought and I figured I will used it after I get a couple weeks of experianced shaves with other blades. I've actually been thinking that I woulod probably do OK with it as I have been nick free for the entire 8 days I've been using my Merkur 45 since beginning my wet shave routine. I'm still going to wait though. Thanks for posting as it gives me confidence and reminder to be patient and steady

Freykr, I totally advise you to jump on the Feather wagon for the following reasons:

    1. It is apparently the sharpest blade you can acquire for a DE, therefore, after using yours, all the rest in your sample will be 'duller', therefore allowing you to get a good benchmark on what level of 'sharpness' you can tolerate and handle adequately.

    2. As it is very sharp, if handled respectfully and with care, allows you to obtain a closer shave with less passes, ergo, less irritation.

    3. LIke some poster said...Feathers are to be respected, not feared.

    4. I have got the best shave so far with it, so I want to share it with a fellow nubi!

I'm into my second feather in my sample pack and I'm loving them. I am seriously considering ordering 100 of them.

Subjective/YMMV. No blade is one size fits all which is why blade samplers are strongly recommended to newbies. Plenty have tried Feathers and do not prefer them and there threads that evidence this. I prefer them but, again, it's a YMMV matter.

    Glad you like the blades!!!

Please keep me posted on how that mini sample pack works for you!!!
And please if you need something just ask, I don't got tons of stuff or a lot of experience; but I'll be happy to share the little I have and the few that I know.
    Cheers

I just started DE shaving a week ago and went straight for the Feathers. After 4 shaves, I found that I kept nicking myself and getting some redness on my neck. I just switched this morning to a Wilkinsons Sword and got a very nice shave without the nicks. I think I'm going to stick with a less aggressive blade until I get my technique down.
