Can't believe I don't see any votes for Speick here... nothing against TOBS Lavender (which had a wonderfully strong lavender scent), but it's an awful lot more expensive than Speick and I think the German product's just as good.

I think because Speick is not considered a straight up lavender cream, but a cologne type cream mixed up of Camfer, lavender, herbals, menthol and other things. because of that Speick can not be considered a lavender cream.
Lavender creams are based solely or mostly on one thing - lavender !

    Castle Forbes, hands down.

But it is a little more pricey than the others.

I've tried all the creams from Truefitt, Trumper and D R Harris and for me I like the consistency and lathering of Truefitt & Hill the best. As for fragrance I much prefer Truefitt Lavender over Harris's (not to mention that the Harris Lavender cream is quite thick and robust and not such a joy to lather. The Harris is also more heavily dyed), but of course fragrance is a very personal thing. For the record I also prefer Truefitt's Rose as well; an utterly gorgeous cream. Do yourself a favour and try it. My other favourite is their Sandalwood. I rotate the Lavender and Rose in the Summer months and move on to the Sandalwood in the winter.

Ah, very interesting. Personally I can't smell that much of a difference between Speick and TOBS Lavender, but I'd be the first to tell you that my nose isn't very sensitive. Sometimes this can be a blessing...

Castle Forbes is best IMO. AOS a very close second. All the others I've tried (not all available by any means) seem to be very synthetic - pointless considering how inexpensive pure lavender EO is.

While I like and own several TOBS creams, Avocado, Sandalwood, Mr. Taylor & Jermyn Street - TOBS creams are known for being very synthetic smelling and cologne based - so IMHO they don't belong in any Top 3 of best NON cologne type creams.

TOBS Lavender is a synthetic cologne mess IMHO
TOBS Sandalwood is a synthetic cologne mess too, but I just bought it and kind of like it for the cheap price I got it for (paid $6 for a pot)

    Just my 2 cents....

I will have to give those a try. The only other T&H creams I've tried are WI Limes, 1805, and Trafalgar.

+1 While I do enjoy TOBS creams for their performance, I find there scent is lacking compared to other brands.

When I smell AOS Lavender, I can hardly tell it from an actual sprig of good dried lavender. When I take a whiff of TOBS Lavender, it's like I just buried my nose in a bowl of Fruit Loops. YMMV, and all that.

The AOS lavender does have a great scent. Whenever SWMBO drags me to Ulta I always swing by the small shaving section and take a whiff of all the AOS creams. Ocean Kelp is beginning to grow on me.

    Venom, Gentlemen,

I am in agreement with you regarding TH Rose, and Lavendar. I just got the rose, and IMO this, for the buck is the best shaving cream out there.
I am in agreement with you regarding TOBS, D H Harris, and Geo Trupmer. I feel they are not a real scent, and chemical. And some use dyes.
Trufitt and Hill uses glycerine in their cream, and for me the best cream for the buck.
I have not tried Castle Forbes at all.
    I found a winner after 60 years.
I am going to favor TH, a much older British firm, does not use synthetics in their creams, and again, the better for me.
    Nice day gentlemen

Just recently tried Castel Forbes for the first time. The cream is amazinly thick and lathers beyond belief. The CF Lavendar is by far the best. Love their formulation of this scent.
