I will still buy badger brushes, but this synthetic brush from Mühle is an excellent alternative.....
Claus, you may begin to realize that you will have to use a little less product to get the same results as a natural brush.

The 21, 23 and 25mm Muhle STF brushes are my favorite synthetic brushes. They are lined up in my den, and I use them daily. I pick them according on my mood at the moment. The 19mm is my travel brush. They are very versatile, and I can use them with any cream or soap to face lather, which I do almost exclusively.

Gary's reviews of the H.I.S. brush have me curious enough that I ordered one this morning, and I'll review it in a few weeks.

WoW Jim - that line up certainly do look very nice

I only own the 25 mm STF in Ivory horn imitation and then the Stylo Thuja wood 21 mm STF version - but thinking about adding the 23 mm Ivory horn imitation STF to my collection - I face lather exclusively and only use creams (not soaps, since they tend to dry out my face) - but use both soft creams and croap like creams - how would you rate the STF brushes up against each other since you're the only own I have ever heard about, that own all 4 variants of the Mühle STF brushes ?

Please give me your personal opinion regarding these brushes and which one you prefer for what purpose ?

Thanks a LOT in advance Jim

I agree - AOS Lavender, while being a very nice cream, is not a cream that explodes into piles of lather normally - but with the Mühle 25mm STF brush it did.......

Because the fibers are identical in each brush, the difference is due only to size and preference. Almost all of the brushes I have owned are 21mm, with the exception of an EJ 23mm Best Badger (a favorite).

I was so pleased with the Mühle synths in those sizes, I spent a month going back and forth between these two. I found these to be at least as good as any of my 15 existing natural-hair brushes in terms of backbone, water retention, ease of use, softness of the tips and lather application. The Muhles clearly excelled in their ability to handle any soap or cream, ease of later making, lather flow, the ability to make more lather with less product, ease of cleaning, drying speed and brush cost relative to equivalent naturals.

The 25mm and 19mm had short learning curves for me. The 25mm requires much less product than I expected, and with hard soaps needs dramatically less time to load. In use, it has an efficiency of application and luxury feel unlike any brush I've ever used. The 19mm is smaller than any brush I've used in the past. I expected it to be somehow more delicate, but found the opposite. It thrives when used aggressively with hard soaps like MWF. It is wonderful with soft creams also. The brush is at its best when used like its larger brothers and sisters--no need for special treatment because of its relative size.

I shaved for the first time today with my 21mm Silvertip Fibre.
Of course no review yet, way to soon for that.
But for now a few things I noticed.
It was very soft. It was less dense as my Vie-Long. BUT my Vie-Long is set at a custom loft that is much (maybe too) lower then the regular model.
It performed better at creating lather then my Vie-Long.
It felt slightly different from my silvertip, but only when running it through my hand, not on my face.
The outside dried very fast. The inside dried faster then a normal brush but needed a few hours to dry completely.
I have the "Classic" model in ivory. I like the color and more importantly, I like the shape. It has a natural grip.
From the very first time there is no scritchyness. A boar hair brush I would prefer undyed, yet I'm happy this one is.
Probably because it is already "unnatural", synthetic. The more natural it looks the better. For now.
Who knows how we feel 40 years from now?
At a price well below real silvertip and (genuinely) my best lather yet (really thick yet moist, not runny) so far this brush seems to be a powerhouse.
If I keep getting results like this then... well... I'll be careful not to come to any conclusion yet.
    More will follow...

I'm really excited for my silver tip fibre to arrive from Bullgoose. I ordered the 21mm horn classic handle. Hopefully it will arrive tomorrow or Saturday.

Can you show a picture of how the horn looks in a normal setting?
(So medium lighting, no studio conditions). I have always wondered. This can make my decision to buy a larger one in horn one day a bit easier.

Sure thing. It should arrive today as tracking shows it passed through the local hub last night. If it comes before I have to leave for work this afternoon I'll try to post one today.

Here's my horn handle brush taken. I took shots of the brush from different sides so you can see how the horn varies around the handle.

Nice. I just ordered a 24 mm Richmond Faux Horn with synthetic knot from Ian. Anxiously awaiting its arrival.

Thank you. That looks more like genuine horn then the pics on the Mühle's shop.
Looks pretty good. And it actually looks like horn.
