My wife works at a salon and part time at a beauty supply store so I get a hook up. I have tried Redken, Crew, Aveda, etc, but right now I really like Bed Head B for Men Matte Seperation Wax. Its about the same price as most of the others around $15. Holds great, leaves your hair looking kinda dirty instead of wet and spikey or greasy. A little bit goes a long way too.
    Cheers, Ryan

I love it.....this a pic of me for reference...

Agree with the jazzguy, even if his music is discordant and offbeat for the purpose of being offbeat (I kid). You can also get a good deal through Amazon for the Crew Pomade, usually with shipping you can get two for 22 bucks.

The Axe is pretty good as well, and you get some good bang for the buck. It doesn't look as good as the Crew or smell as good, but other than the douchebaggery associated with the product (if you get it, stash it where no one can see it) it's really good, and a big step up from the cheaper Supermarket brands.

I've used American Crew, it's good quality, but my everyday pomade is from "Keune" they call it "shaping fibres" it's got a hint of tangerine scent, it has fibers which I like for hold and shape, and it's got a good medium texture

I am curious about Imperial Barber pomade with fiber? May look into that

A little bit of context on my post -- was at work and was called away (slow day). I used to use a Redken Cream, for everything, crazy fohawk phase... to 50s dad hair phase. My barber suggested this stuff, and it's great, lasts forever, smells badass, and washes out easy.

as of right now, you really cant beat Suavacito, for $10 its has a heavy hold, smells great and washes out with just water.
layrite is real good to but about $5 more a can, and smell like vanilla/sugar cookies....who doesnt love that?!
but, if you can find S-curl 360 thats the way to go for something under $4. i dont dig the smell, but others describe it as baby powdery...i just think it stinks. but i cant deny it styles flawlessly and washes out after about 2 lathers.
or tres flowers is cheap smell like flowers and can be found anywhere.

For about two weeks now I have been using the Swaggar cream by Murray's which is labelled and sold by Lucky 13. It is a cream pomade. I am on the fence. I wear my hair slick back with an undercut on the sides. With Swagger my hair is soft, smells good, and the wife likes that it is not a "hard" shell that I might get with other pomades that I use. However, with the heat, it is not having the best hold. Or at least, if I dress my hair early in the morning with it, it has lost some of its hold by later in the evening. I can run my fingers through and the hair is back in place, but I have to play that game most of the evening. If I use it in the afternoon/early evening, it works well and holds. I do not know if I will buy this again, but I still would try out some of the stronger holds pomades that lucky 13 has.

Everyone aware of The Rebel Rouser? He does great pomade reviews. After reading his review of SCurl 360, I found some at my grocery store in the tin (which is a nice score, better than the plastic). I figure if it didn't work out I have a new container for soap. I so far like the stuff. It has the consistency of DAX hair shaper and American Crew Grooming Creme. Only $3. Good hold so far.

I picked up some of this stuff at Walgreens about 8 months ago. It's surprisingly good stuff.

Another vote for Pinaud Clubman gel. It's cheap, comes in a sturdy jar, smells great, and holds hair for days.

I use the Aveda men's pomade. It's more of light hold, no-gloss... has a fantastic, spicy fragrance. People are always telling me I smell good when I have this stuff in.

Has anyone tried the Blind Barber pomades? Was curious about those.

    Murrays
    Dax

    Cheap water sols:
Axe (I actually really like this for the money)
    Suave

    Premium water sols:
Fiber Grease (Hands down my favorite but difficult to track down)
    Layrite (smell is amazing)
American Crew Fiber (Quality & readily available)

i get the suave medium hold matte finish from Big Lots, for $1.50 a can. its super cheaper and actually works kinda awesome. the smell is "fresh" but i think its almost over powering. i put a dab or two of ogalla bay rum on top to tone it down. but for a super cheap water sol, its worth it.

I have been a big fan of Woody's Web for the last several years. Matte finish, not too stiff in terms of hold, and washes out fairly easily.
I recently began using Baxter of California clay pomade for something different...too soon to render a verdict.
I believe both products are not too expensive, and readily available online, even in Canada I presume.
