Recommend a deodorant that stops sweating.

I need a recommendation for a deodorant that stops sweating. I use Sure antiperspirant now but I'd like to stop using products that contain the aluminum. Tom's doesn't work. I start sweating and then I get chaffing and irritation. Does anyone have any ideas?

Deodorants won't stop sweating. Anti-perspirants do. If you are looking for non-aluminum products, most all are just deodorants.

I started this thread a while back and there is some very good input from multiple gents. Personally, I have found Speick Deo to work best for me, but I can only find it at WCS. Every Man Jack is also okay, but Speick seems to actually smell better throughout the day...hard to explain. Toms did not work for me either. Neither did a large majority of the locally available options. Hope this helps.

I used to alternate between different anti-perspirants - as one would stop working I'd use another. After a few years of rotation nothing worked. I'd just sweat anyway. So I tried just plain deoderant (old spice stick). After using deoderant for a few weeks I stopped sweating.

In a way, deoderants did stop me from sweating. Perhaps it would work for you.

you could try a little bit of gold bond powder thats what i use on really hot days

I use duct tape.

Are you seeking a product that stops sweating because you sweat profusely and want to avoid the wetness itself or because of the odor associated with sweating?
The answer to that question is likely to drive you to different solutions.

Yeah but with scrap prices being what they are these days apparently he doesn't want to waste any aluminum on his pits. I'd recommend Botox.

I tend to sweat but not profusely. Order and wetness are both things I'm trying to avoid.

I use the crystal deodorant stick. It works very well for me as far as odor goes, but it does not stop wetness at all. I have not used antiperspirants for years and years.
I always wear a t shirt under my shirt which is a great way to prevent those dark circles under the pits, but mostly I try to avoid situations where I would be sweating a lot for a long period of time

+1 on the Speick stick, especially after years of supermarket spray deodorants which did who knows what untold damage...you don't want to know...

I thought I suffered from bad BO but after I switched from spray to stick, turns out I smell GOOOOOOD (YMMV)

A few other places carry the Speick, such as Bullgoose and IIRC Shoebox (both provide excellent service).

I've only tried the Speick Natural stick (the green/red coloured stick). It has a herbal, slightly medicinal fragrance like lime-flavoured pastilles I guess. I'm actually on the lookout for the normal blue Speick stick which seems to be much harder to come by - I've seen it but only at sites where there isn't enough "filler" for me to justify a minimum order.

L'Occitane roll-ons are good too.

-1 on the Tom's of Maine. I had good results with the Wild Garden roll-on but the Citrus Zest irritated me if I wore it 2 or 3 days straight. I stopped using all Tom's products after I developed really bad irritation from the cinnamon/clove toothpaste. It was bordering on an allergic reaction, and I actually wonder whether there's something in all the Tom's products which doesn't agree with me.

(For the avoidance of doubt, the toothpaste was used as intended and not as an alternative underarm product.)

I work in a un-airconditioned factory and I looked for non-antipersperant sprays just so I can not smell like moldy cheese but still get the cooling that sweating does.

So I just use BRUT and Right Guard sprays..I like the BRUT more..it smells better and lasts longer. :P

You want to sweat. Invest in a wick-a-way undershirt with a loose fitting overshirt to encourage airflow between the layers. I learned this while in the middle east. I prefer UnderArmor, myself. I am experienced due to my many years sweating my butt off in BDUs and ABUs. You will overheat faster if you use antiperspirants in hot weather conditions.

Try a deodorant stick and slap on some talc with it. Personally, I do use an anti-perspirant every now and then but my deodorant of choice for the last year has been L'Occitane's Baux stick. I love it!

I've been trying to move away from Alum based products myself, mainly due to the staining it seems to cause on all of my work shirts.
The 2 I have tried so far are MenScience Advanced Deodorant and The Body Shop DeoDry.
DeoDry doesn't really have any pretentions to keep you dry. It feels a bit damp when it goes on and never seems to really dry out. I got used to the feel of it after a couple of days and I loved the scent. However, on a warmer day, my body odour was just starting to come through towards the end of the day. I would not be confident with it if I was being particularly active without topping it up during the day. I may use it in the cooler months as it is pretty cheap (£2.50 a stick)
The MenScience is also alum free and is unfragranced. I've been using it for about 4 days and I'm am seriously impressed. It has kept me dry and odour free so far and I have invested in a few sticks to give it a good long trial and see if it solves my shirt staining issue. The downside is price. At £17 a stick ($17 on Amazon in the US) it is expensive. Luckily I found a deal on it in the UK that brough it closer to my price range. Also hoping the cost will be offset by my shirts lasting longer!
