Straight. Twice when I went at too aggressive of an angle on my cheeks at the start of the WTG pass and one from a square point catching some skin and digging in as I was cutting down my cheek.

I gave myself a doozy when learning with a straight. But it healed OK.

I hate to admit it, but I cut myself at least once a month. Usually from being careless when scything atg under jaw using the opposite hand going the opposite way I can feel the instant the edge bites into skin, so the cuts are always like a paper cut, and stop bleeding by the time it's gets hit with the WH.

My worse cut was when first starting, and I still have a thin scar on my cheek.

I don't recall any serious cuts from either. Had some nicks and bleeders but nothing that left a scar of any sorts.

I voted for straight razor but it was actually a disposable straight razor. The Parker SR1 that is lauded on this forum. I really regret ever purchasing one. Its lack of weight as well as the sharpness of DE blades are incredibly dangerous. I got the blade stuck (yes, stuck) up near my side burn in my cheek. I still have a small scar.
Please don't tempt me to buy anymore.

like kentos i cut myself practically every shave in some manner.... usually it is a unscheduled pimple removal or a weeper....

BUT.. spike points and me don't get alone... the "cuts" are more "scratches" from the spike... so i mute them by running the spikey point against the mirror before shaving... sometimes i forget and i get a "scratch"....

real "cuts" are a rarity... but a couple weeks ago i honed up one of my homemade kami's and that bastid cut me 4 times in succession... i placed the razor 4 times to my right cheek and it just bit each time... i had to restrop it with CEOX to knock the sharpness level down where it was usable....

now for my personal razors i have gotten lazy and just finish on my coti with .5micron diamond slurry in oil.... still wicked sharp but not ridiculous... very comfy edges....

worst cut as a kid with my dads DE... to this day i am more nervous with a DE than with a straight...
a nice walk in the woods helps me relax and relieves tension....

the fact i'm dragging a shovel and a body should be irrelevant...

My worst cut was from a cobra. By far. So sharp it lopped off some skin by accident and looked like I had a basal cell removed. The straight never did anything like that.

Straight...got careless and quick and caught the bottom outer edge of my nose while doing my upper lip.

Only "cut" ever was on my ear lobe from a DE, and with the side tabs. I've never been cut during the actual shave. If weepers count as "nicks", I get those with both DE and straights on occasion, but limited primarily to straights and my R41. Anything less aggressive, and I'm usually weeper free.

First time out with a straight I put it to my face at the wrong angle.
it cut a big cut about 2 inches long on my cheek.
I had to explain it to everyone. It was huge and right there on my face.

I sure didn't make that mistake again.

My worst cut was from an R41, but I get way more cuts using a straight than a DE. No matter how careful I think I am or how confident I am, I always make a small mistake right when I think everything is going fine.

just used my then new FUTUR. After the first pass, I was dialing down the setting for the next go round............NOTE TO ALL - do not perform this act with wet hands! The head of the razor spun around, slicing my thumb, near down to the bone....

Now, any time I'm using ANY of my adjustable's, I do so gripping the razor with a towel.

I have never cut myself while shaving with a straight (knock on wood), couple nicks on my fingers while honing. My deepest cut was from a safety razor, cut deep into the tip of my ring finger.

I get more nicks from DE, but I get more cuts from straights(usually involves lack of focus while hand sanding blades).

Yep, Futur got me while adjusting the dial. Nice large cut on my thumb which came close to a possible visit to the Emergency Room.

I poked myself under my left ear with a square point straight and flinched, putting a 4" long gash in my neck.

Luckily no scar and no long term phobia of straight razors.

Although now I only own round point straight razors.....

got my worst cut so far tonite on a straight. i was honing and let my left index finger rise above the plain of the honing surface and got quite a long deep flap on my touch pad, it bled quite a large amount. it needs a few stitches i think but i will try to take care if it at home. i do not like to go to the ER. time will tell the tale but it is getting quite sore already. i hope the lesson is well learned. tom

Ouch. When using lapping film, I've had the base paper curl up (if it was cut slightly wider than the film) and one second it would be there and the next second it would be a piece of confetti. No real sense that it was contacted. I bet if my finger was there it would cut through the pad with the same ease. Stitches are best - might be able to minimize the scar.
