Thanks so much for doing this. I was introduced to wetshaving about 6 months ago and bought a VDH starter set at Target. Since then I have been lathering up and using my fusion. But today I ordered a Parker Shavette. I thought about finding a Shick injector as I really liked the on that I had in the 60's. But I decided to go all the way to the SR. After watching your video I am really looking forward to learning how to use it. Thanks againl.

Good luck! Remember that the shavettes are supposed to be much less forgiving than real straights. I haven't used one, but that is what I have read.

If you decide to get a real straight razor you shouls order a sight unseen deal from Whippeddog. Then you can get all you need to start for under 50$.

A nice enough shave. Two passes with a little tugging. I'm not sure if it was the razor that needs a honing or if it was the new soap that needs some more work to find the right lather with. It felt a bit dry.

I got the Gotta in the mail today from Zephyr and even if I was a little short for time I had to try it out. I lathered up the TOBS and found I used all to much, it filled my latherbowl up to the brim and it's not a small one!

The Gotta made short work of two days growth. I did two passes and a little touch up on my upper lip and got a nice close shave out of it. I think I have found my favorite kind of straight, around 6/8 and rounded tip seems to be perfect for me!

After reading the "How many passes with a straight" post I decided to try something new today. I went with 2 passes(WTG,ATG). It went ok, but I wont do it again ;) A little more irritation than I like. I haven't used Maca Root since I uded it with a DE and it was actually quite good. I think I made it a little dry maybe. Still got a good clean shave, but my upper lip was a little sore with two weepers.

I decided to have another go with the SFS again today after actually getting some nice lather from it the last time. I have found this soap needs quite a lot of work, but is really nice when I get it right. This being a lazy sunday shave I took the time and got some great slick lather.

The Gotta is still a fine razor, two passes and a few touch-ups gave a really great shave! It's nice to still feel that the shaves just keep getting better. This is just so fun!

I tried the La Toja SC again today. I really loved this cream with DE's but it let me down a bit with straights. Sad to say it was the same today. It just doesn't seem slick enough which leads to some tugging. I still had a nice enough two pass shave(WTG,XTG).

I think you might have seen it before...... It's a great razor, the only one of mine that maybe beats ut is the Gotta.

Thanks for including us, I would say you are braver adding clubman to the mix while so new to straights. Sounds like your doing a good job. Oh yeah, if your DE's are becoming a little dull, you might want to try changing the blade . Enjoy your shave!

I thik I will do one for every tenth shave from now on. Since the every week thing got messed up.
