My wife presented me with a Edwin Jagger DE Razor, Badger Brush and Proraso Shave Soap for father's day. She was shocked that I didn't already shave this way since I "like all that old man stuff." (you know...Barbershops, Briar Pipes, Whisky's, etc)
I had been begrudgingly shaving with an overpriced Mach 3 since its introduction, so I was quite excited to give this a whirl. Minus a nicked mole, I have a quite pleasurable first, second, and third shave. I have a difficult spot directly under my chin which seems to be a common issue. I'm sure time and patience will make the experience even better. I am still sorting through the massive amounts of great information here.

Same here, I´m very fond of old things, especially vintage saxophones and turntables, so changing from cartridge razors to vintage Gillette was just right for me and now, for the first time in life, I enjoy shaving. I am 37 years old and I´ve been using safety razors for only a month now and I wonder why I didn´t start DE shaving earlier but I´m very happy I did.

Thoughtful gift from your wife! Welcome to B&B...I recall my first DE shave and subsequent post on B&B was similarily titled. Good Luck!

You and I sound very similar. I just picked up wet shaving over the past month and I now love shaving. My wife bought me an eShave kit. Today I tried my Edwin Jagger DE razor for the first time and I already like it so much more than my old cart razor. At least we're still not ignorant of DE blades.
