The colour in the second photo, with the hone still in the wrapping, is probably the closest one to the real colour. My iPhone seems to have lightened it a couple of shades, but hey, you get the idea!
Like i said, it's 200mm by 50mm, the lighter is there to give you an idea of the scale - maybe I have really small hands!
Hope you like it, had to post pictures to prove to you guys that I wasn't fibbing! I'll post more once I get given it officially and then start using it.... project number one is waiting patiently after having had its bevel set.
Very nice Coticule, congrats.
Rick
Very nice. I thought you said you ordered a bout?

Did you get an upgrade? 200 X 50 is a great size.

I got the upgrade cos it's my birthday next weekend and this is the present from SWMBO! The writing on. The stone says Happy Birthday in French, nice personal touch. Can't wait to grind it off with my solingen project.
combo?..or glued to slate?...still a nice piece!
Glued to slate I think, certainly looks to be slate anyway. Someone can confirm when I post more pics next weekend.
Based on the appearance of the surface and the type of "blushes" on the surface I think I see on the surface, it's probably La Grise. It's hard to guess much without the side view, though. Oh, and the slurry stone looks like it has a glue line, so the hone probably is glued to slate as well.
Really looking forward to giving it a go. Can't remember any blushes to talk of, pretty uniform in colour with slight lines running lengthways. In any case La grise or otherwise it's my new baby! Hope to have a long and fruitful relationship with this lady, at least as long as with SWMBO so far!![]()
Yeah, so my phone's screen fooled me. The color looks pretty consistent on my laptop. Otherwise, the texture looks right for my guess, but like I said, better pictures are needed. My guess is that it should be pretty middle of the road in terms of speed, which I like.
Happy Birthday to you, BakerAndBadger. Enjoy your new stone and be sure to give your wife a big hug and kiss to thank her for it.
