Turtle i agree with you 100% I have the Model 293 and i must say Da Vinci are Superior Brushes and Deserve More Respect them most other high end brushes out there. I have about 10 plus ShaveMac Brushes and I love them, But Seems the Da Vinci Brush is a Above all my ShaveMac :o/ I tried to tell myself it isn't so but Man These Davinci Brushes are Extremely Well Made, With Excellent Badger Hair like no other, Hangle is user Friendly. Ergonomics on this Handle is the most Comfortable handle of all times. I am about to order the Da Vinci 290 and Da Vinci 295 Travel Brush Which looks like a Really Nice Slick Travel Brush, and if it's Hair is as good as all the other Da Vinci Models "290,293" It's going to be the only Travel Brush I need to take along with me

I believe they use Turkish badger hair in all of their brushes not just the 290 and 293.

I don't think any other brush maker gets their badger from Turkey. Most get it from China. Not there is anything wrong with that, it's just that Da Vinci brushes ARE different feeling than all the rest

I love my 290, although it is quite the shedder. I can expect 3-7 hairs on an average shave to free themselves from the knot. Although I've bought replacement brushes I still find myself using the 290 on a daily basis. It holds water and heat like nobody's business.

I will admit I use my brush in more of a scrubby way, opposed to the painting motion that is recommend.
I am here to save money... right?
