OK, I have tried the new formulation this evening after my shave. It is different than the original. Not sure why they felt it needing changing, but its been done. It's not bad, just slightly less cooling and not quite the same scent (sadly). Overall, I'd say it's acceptable.

Pushing this back up as I tried the new formula this morning.

Keep in mind that I tried it once and not many times. To be honest, the old Proraso worked better for me. I will still buy this one and might change my mind down the line but first impression, it's different...

    Here's what I noticed:
    • Face is not as dry (dry skin) as it was with the old formula. Some would say it's a good thing, I liked the dryness of the old formula
    • Less menthol in the new formula
    • Citrus scent is a bit milder than the old formula
    • My skin is left with a very light oily feeling (and I have to say it again, very light)

It's been around an hour and the scent is still around. I will see in the next 2 hours as Proraso was usually staying on for ~3 hours on me...

Again, this is the first impression, I might change my mind but so far, this is what I noticed... I will see how I used at least 3/4 of the bottle...

I will say that I haven't tried the old splash as I am relatively new to this sport. At this point, I don't plan to as it is discontinued. At any rate, I did get a bottle of the new splash and I really like it. It's scent is very similar to the old balm IMO, but without the metallic "after-smell" that would show up after about an hour with that. Also, the old balm had parabens in it, which I'd rather avoid.

Either way, I'm now using the new green soap frequently and it works great for me with the new splash. I say give it a shot!

Agree with a lot of above.

Have both opened side by side and the scent is different: less top note of citrus in the new form, a little less menthol in the feel on face (tried after a Cella shave both days), no other discernible "finish" effect apart from the milder menthol hit. I do like the new bottle though as it's more squat, a more robust cap for wet hands to grip and it's less likely to tip over.

To me, I can't tell a difference. Still the great Proraso Aftershave. I have it in the barbershop size.

I've never had the old A/S so I will try the new without missing what it replaced.

Still, I am always up for more menthol, so I'm not really happy that it's been reduced.

I'll just have to wait and see how it turns out!

Haven't tried the new one, but I like the previous version, however I like the scent of the cream better. There does seem to be a difference, but I can't put my finger on what it is.

I agree John, AV is much better and cheaper than the old Proraso version. I have not tried the new version but have a sample in route from Garry.

Does it have the same clingy citrusy note? I didn't like that at all and it turned me off the product even though it seemed to work pretty well. Since they have changed the formula, maybe I should reevaluate.

I enjoy it. I agree with what was said above; it doesn't quite pack the same punch as the old, but it gets the job done!

I've only ever tried the old one but I have to say the new bottle looks pretty snazzy!

AV beats it in initial icyness, but proraso lasts a lot longer both in cooling and smell. I do however like both the scents (and I'm in my early 30s - classic scents know no age :p )

I've only tried the new formulation. It probably made my skin feel better than any other splash I have tried, but tragically the scent while pleasant out of the bottle got sickening on my face after a while and lingered to the point that nothing short of a long shower got rid of it.

Just tried the new today and I agree with your assessment. I want my old Proraso back...

Just tried it for the first time last night. It's a wonderful splash with an clean scent. The moisturizing properties is on par with Lucido.
