    Default Proraso, the "New Formula"

I have been an avid user of Proraso splash.
I went to get more from WCS and saw that only this "New Formula" is available.
Does anyone have any feedback as to how this compares to the original?
    Thanks.

I've been using the original lotion balm for many years and received the new formula splash a few weeks ago. It's hard for me to describe the scent (recognizing that they are two entirely different products), but it doesn't smell anything like the lotion. That said, I do like and mix it with 444 when I use it. I'm curious if Proraso will continue to offer any sort of balm-based aftershave with their new line or only offer splashes. :)

The scent and the balance of scent/cooling are a little different. The new doesn't pack quite the menthol punch as the old, but it's still pretty noticeable. The efficacy is about the same - nice cooling feeling and would smooth out any irritation you might have. Feels good on the skin.

    Thanks Bob.
That is a bit disappointing as I like a hard cooling punch.

It's not that far off from the original. I will not have any qualms continuing to buy the new splash. It's probably the most like the original of the three reformulations: AS splash first, then the shaving cream, and the pre-shave cream last.

The scent has a little more staying power as well.

In my opinion it's the perfect example of a successful revamp. Yes, the scent may be marginally different and yes, the cooling effect may be slightly less powerful - but it's still Proraso's great aftershave splash, and I happen to think that most people wouldn't even notice the difference if it came in the old bottle.

Just go for it and try it with an open mind. It's a fantastic product (and IMHO the best reformulation of all new Proraso products).

I am happy to hear there are positives on the new formula.
I did just order a 400ml bottle of the original stuff so that will keep me stocked for a while as I am also a Bay Rummer.
I use the Proraso more in the summer months.

I couldn't tell the difference until I smelled both bottles side by side. The new also has a little more alcohol smell as well IMHO.

Just out of curiosity, how many of you have used Aqua Velva. May be a dumb question, because so many have tried it, at least in the States. But I tried the old Proraso Splash and thought AV beats it hands down.

However, I started using AV in my teens and as one ages those ruts get pretty deep!

Aqua Velva does beat it IMHO. Although Proraso has a better scent, the old Proraso had too much propylene glycol (3rd ingredient), which caused me considerable discomfort. I wonder if the new formulation changed that...

I never tried the old version. I feared the alcohol would dry my skin out. Now I'm delighted: this new formulation is great for the summer time! As for the scent: nothing to do with the soap, it's an "old barbershop" scent IMO. Give it a try!

I love the new formula. And the scent isnt really that much different if compared side by side with the old formula.I did notice they added eucalyptus to it.It still has that tingling and a menthol kick, maybe not as intense as the old formula.Give it a try,im sure you wont be disappointed.
A few places still have the old formula. If you can,I would stock up.

Just received my new formulation today and will try it this evening. Thus far, I like the smell (out of the bottle) of the original version, but will hold judgement till after my first use. Not that it matters, but I like the old bottle better....
