How Many Shaves

I made it an entire month on a single #800 stainless Gold Dollar. I shave every other day, so it was about 15 shaves total. Probably didn't even need honing after that, but sometimes you just gotta scratch that honing itch!

So far I have put about 20 shaves on my Brian Brown custom (I shave daily). He finished it on a surgical Arki, and I have only stropped it - in fact, I haven't even put it on canvas. 50 laps on smooth latigo before and 20 after.

It's showing no signs of dulling so far. Pretty amazing actually...

The itch has been scratched-on other razors. I share to hone=very relaxing.

It's a win/win situation, Doc. If it lasts 50 shaves, great. If it lasts 3 shaves, you get to spend some quality time with your hones/strops, which is also great.

The bigger question is if Doc can stay away from his stones long enough to complete the test. I know I couldn't.

No way. I'm still honing stuff just not that one. I will have everything else ready to go.

There should be a side bet here... I think the urge to want to hone that razor will eat him alive, and the next time we see that razor, it's gonna look like THIS.

Prep: Hot shower
Soap: Cella
Strop: Kanayama 25 suede, 50 leather
HHT pre shave: 4
Results: Much better, back on track. I think the not so good shave with shave 3 was the speed. Today was DFS, no irritation.

Say it aint so. I like it, I used it for some-but it lacks the "je ne sais qouis". Not in the result-the results are fantastic, but in he actual honing.
