What's new

dry scalp leading to heavy dandruff

i've had similar problem (head and shoulders not working etc.). I never had a problem with dandruff until I came to college and began showering with city water. Once i did that I began getting it even in the summer. I've started using Selson Salon, same as Selson Blue, and it's worked for me. It's $8 or so at wal-mart, cvs, walgreens, whatever is close to you, but I picked some up at a discount grocery for a couple bucks

Personally, I found that applying Listerine to the scalp has worked better than any specific Dandruff Shampoo. The first time I tried it, I got immediate relief and over a short time was largely cured. Now I only use it occasionally as needed. I put some in a small squirt bottle to make it easy to apply upon getting in the shower, before the body wash which is followed by a hair wash with shampoo. There might be a better procedure for applying it, but that is what I have done in the past.

I first heard about this treatment many years ago on the People's Pharmacy radio show: http://www.peoplespharmacy.com/archives/home_remedies/listerine_for_dandruff.asp
Where they were discussing how the product was marketed for this purpose in the past, but that the FDA made them retract.

I gave it a try and was pleasantly surprised.
