Sharp Hi-Chromium Durablades

I got a pack of these with a blade sampler a while back, so I thought I'd give one a try.

(My regular set up is an Astra SP in an R41)

Very odd shave. The first pass was like pulling whiskers out; the second was so smooth, it was more like polishing than shaving.

Not sure if I will ever use this blade again. The first pass was way too rough. I think the only thing that kept me from getting sliced and diced was the dimethicone I added to my lather.

Anyone else have any experiences with this blade?

I used the Hi Chromium yesterday and had a similar experience on the first pass. Overall, the blade tugged a lot and was unpleasant, but it didn't cause much irritation and the end result was OK. I tossed it after one shave. It didn't seem terribly sharp to me.

I used the Super Chrome today, and had a very similar shave.

Tossed mine, too.

Tried a SuperMax Platinum that I got as a freebie from Razor Blades and More. Now THAT was more like it. Nice, smooth first pass; great clean up on the second. These just made my list, along with my regulars, Astra SPs.
