    Default Rubberset 2X Lucite

My sister sent me a package of old school shaving goodies today, including this smallish brush. I expect it could accept an 18mm 2 band Finest, but I'll bet the current knot is 16mm or so. To be continued...

Lots of polishing while waiting for the knot. It'll be a week or so!

Light polishing and knot removed. The opening is 16mm. Ordering a 16mm 2 band finest, I think. I'll need to open it a bit and clean the entire recess to get a clean finish...

Anybody thinking I should get an 18mm knot? The opening is exactly 16mm...

If it was me I would stick wih the 16mm knot. You still might have to open it up a little bit for it to fit. A 19mm would take a lot of work to open it up and then get it nice and smooth again.

I'd be shooting for a 20mm, how much room do you have to play with?

I really don't think this little guy will accept a much bigger knot. I think 18 would be pushing it. There is not a lot of room from the edge of the hole to the sides of the brush. I'm content with a smaller knot for this one. We'll see what happens with cleaning the recess. Things happen and I might have to go bigger!

It doesn't take much to get these Lucites to look like wet ice!

Vacation got in the way of setting the 16mm knot that arrived. Even 16mm is going to be snug.

Good idea to stay with the 16mm it really doesn't take much to ruin it even on these solid handles if you try to bore it larger.

Love the way these lucite handles clean up so can't wait to see the finished product :)

I'll set the knot tomorrow with some black Testor's mixed in the epoxy. Not using enough epoxy, and not coloring it, was a mistake with my last lucite restoration.

Done! I imagine that it looks close to what it looked like the first day it was used. Compare it to the first photo...
