Didn't get my brush yet but wanted give to thumbs up to Larry for his knowledge and patience. I was grilling him for 2 days with stupid questions, changing my mind, more stupid questions. I would've killed me in his place or at least cussed me out. A real gentleman and a pro. I am confident that I will love the brush I get. Thanks Larry, you gotta a loyal customer!

    It doesn't matter because:
1- for any member to say that is a cheap shot
2- He IS a mod, IMO any mod needs to take that into account when making comments that could be interpreted as a comment for commercial benefit
3- How convenient the thread was moved out of the brush forum.

I apologise if I am coming across as rude but that is not my intention. I am very disappointed in the actions of the mod(s) and for a forum that touts gentlemanly behaviour, this is anything but.

I don't know why this thread is where it is, but do look at the number of similar threads on similar topics across the board and you'll see that this is pretty isolated. To infer that it's some kind of conspiracy is a little offensive too.

If you want to call me out in public, I'll be happy to respond in public but if you'd like to PM me and discuss this like Gentlemen, I'll be happy to continue that way.

    As I had said to a few people who had the gumption to ask me personally via PM instead of calling me out in public;

It's not a condemnation of non-B&B Vendors, as much as it is a friendly reminder that when you make a choice, our Vendors give good quality for service too, and should be considered as an option.

    Nothing more or less really!

It's my personal opinion, and I have made my suggestion that people simply consider options before making a final choice because I feel that is a viable, fair, and "Gentlemanly" option.

    My problems is
    1. I want a review of this brush, but it's not not in the brush forum and not getting the right replies (or it's getting the wrong attention due to fighting over it)
    2. I searched for Whipped Dog brush reviews previously and found VERY little, making me think that this is a very helpful review.
    3. There really isn't much different than other threads, a lot of people are very biased towards a certain razor, blade, soap or even brush (umm Simpson?) and this is hardly a "very biased" review IMO.

    4. I realize there are vendors here and I do respect that, completely. But if the members contribute and if it is for members and not to advertise for vendors, then shouldn't just honest information be disseminated whether it is from a vendor or not? I have no issues with any vendors, but I don't think it takes a genius to figure out that this deal is very cheap (maybe poor quality, this is why reviews would help) so it's something people will look at, and reviews should be given IMO for the members. It was in the right place (Brush Forum) too, so I don't get the issue, the shopping and deals section seems silly for it??

I agree completely with that (Boars vs. Badgers, no brand included, is a good example of this, there's a lot of quick decisions and quick advice given when it's more YMMV), but the only thing I want to make sure of is that both members and non-member reviews are made, there is a difference with a B&B vendor, especially with customer service etc. it's nice to use an "established" vendor. Even still, the words "viable, fair and gentlemanly" to me seems like it should include honest and fair reviews, regardless of the status of the vendor in regards to B&B.

If I don't know some previous forum drama I apologize, but just looking at this one thread, I'm completely confused at what's happened.

Ok, so you do want to carry this on in public.

    Here's a thread for you from the Brush Forum;

    http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthr...k-Pure-Badger?

This thread isn't any more of a real review than the one I highlighted above. If people want to review, review away.
No one is deleting any of these threads, so if you search, you find what is available.

If nothing is available, it's because somebody hasn't written it.

    Is that a conspiracy too?

I have an opinion, as many people here on the forum do, and I chose to make my opinion known. It's no different than if someone else had chimed in and said this brush was the greatest thing since paper napkins, or if someone had said they didn't like this one as much as the 9 dollar Shea Moisture Shave brush from Target.
It's an opinion, and people who read it are free to agree or not, to take it into account or not.

You're confused? Imagine how I feel after making a suggestion that people consider all options when shopping for Vendors and being accused of being dishonest, ungentlemanly, and participating in a conspiracy to deny reviews of an item to the public.

There's no drama, there's no conspiracy, and I'm frankly puzzled by the apparent desire by you to consistently keep asking a question that has been answered, both in public and by PM.

Are you suggesting that for it to be an honest and fair review, everyone who posts in the thread must only praise the item?

Has anyone PM'd a Mod and asked them to move this thread to the Brush Forum?
    I didn't get a PM.

What I got was a tongue lashing for exercising my option of expressing an opinion which didn't say a single bad thing about anyone, and which you have a right to ignore.

I'm sorry I guess with that post and the thread moved I assumed it was on purpose. It just seems to belong in the brush forum but I admit I PM'ed a Steward (sorry I'm new) and didn't know the difference so that is my fault. I thought it was moved on purpose, I sort of was hoping the person who moved it could chime in, I wasn't trying to chastise you, only ask why it was moved is all.

Sorry if I was harsh, I took the moving of the thread to be a bit "off" when there was a comment about him not being a vendor, and I jumped the gun, sorry.

Good grief. I will think twice before posting a review again. This thread got pretty ugly so the moderators are free to remove it or lock it.

I think the thread "move" got people going. I find this review to be a good one, and one I could not find before now so I hope more come around...

Because of this review I decided to order a 22mm silvertip from Larry as well. Thank you Froggy.

Without a doubt this was a useful thread. I'm getting ready to order a brush set up from Larry soon! Has anyone requested that it be placed back in the Shave Brush Category where it belongs? I'm not trying to stir up the previous misunderstanding, but just asking if someone has made the inquiry to a Mod?

It wouldn't hurt to ask, but in my discussions with more than one member of mod or higher status, we can blame "thread drift" for the move.

Had the thread remained a review about one specific brush, it would have remained in the brush forum, like the other thread on the 30mm black.
Since the thread morphed into a discussion targeted more around Larry and WD, rather than a specific product, it was moved.

Yes it does matter. So what you are saying is that anyone wearing a blue badge can not be a contributing member of this forum ?

    That is just plain sad.

As members of this forum we all have our own opinions....so here is mine.

I bought a practice strop from Whipped dog to use as a travel strop. It was okay. Then last November I bought one for $5 more from one of our hobbyists. Best strop I have ever had.

I have to say Larry has great budget prices etc., but reviews like this are very helpful as well (you could have mentioned which hobbyist too!) because that's a helpful review too. I don't think these reviews are advertising or bashing, I am just curious about the best bang for my buck.

This is my first post at B&B!

Just wanted to add a good word for Larry. Ordered a brush and basic safety razor from him last week. Both excellent, especially for low cost. Shipped from TX to me in the UK in 4 days too for free. Can't beat that!

    Default Whipped Dog 22mm

Got this brush from Larry to upgrade the boy's Tweezerman, which has started to to shed uncontrollably. He didn't really know what sort of knot/loft he wanted, so I didn't want to go all in on a brand name brush only for him to say it was too big/too floppy/whatever. It's the 22mm silvertip, drilled down an extra 10mm (making the loft around 45) with the white resin handle. The handles are really, truly much better than the price indicates--so good that I ordered a 30mm to stick my Omega knot (background) into.

I gave the brush a try just for fun. I have no badgery basis of comparison, but it was quite soft and held more than enough lather for two leg passes (I'd say it would have done at least 3). The knot looked hilariously small/short in the brush when it arrived, but this is definitely a good ratio for face lathering (or, god forbid, palm lathering like he does). The brush shed quite a few hairs initially, but the rate is decreasing rapidly. I'd definitely recommend it as an upgrade brush for someone who is still deciding on knot size.
