Heck looking at bids for a razor(cant remember what one)and one person bid 18 separate times in just a matter of minutes driving the price sky high! Then once other bids started coming in he backed off. If thats not shill bidding I dont know what is. Makes no sense to do that.

That's not shill bidding, that is how the Ebay automated bidding system works. You set your maximum you wish to bid, and Ebay automatically bids for you until the maximum is reached. It doesn't show the other bidder you are bidding against, until you max bid is topped/ exceeded. He didn't "back off" per say, his maximum was reached, and he wasn't sitting in front of his computer to place a new higher bid; or he didn't desire to place a higher bid.

For shill bidding to work at all, there has to be at least one other bidder who is willing to bid the item higher. Otherwise the shill bidder will just result in the auction going unsold.

I was curious how he can call it "absolute mint" with no case, and with "flea bite" size spots of paint missing.

The thing is those 18 bids I seen that the guy made were all consecutive. There weren't any other bids that took him to his max. Those were all single bids on his part.

Sometimes another bidder makes consecutive bids like that to see just how high the other bid is, testing the other bidders limits. It's why I never place a bid early.

I think these are fan favourites (the red tip). In good condition someone may be willing to pay that much. It really wouldn’t be that much had the razor been made today. So, if it is close to NOS, that price is somewhat understandable. Ignoring the fact that there are plenty of others like this available.

Maybe this is a sign that the previous auction was a scam - just artificially trying to drive the prices up?
Razors don't shave people. People shave people!

There are three critical types of moments in life: Times when we should use opportunity to be enamoured with finer details, and times we should ignore the minutia.

Something smells funny. This is the same seller who just sold the $2,000 SS.

Its either on the seller's or buyers end, but something is definitely not right.
