The Semogue 2000 is a typical barber's brush, and very used by barbers in Portugal, specially in the northern side of the country.
The use of soaps is not widespread nowadays, not even among barbers, as soaps are not easily available here. The "Men's Estoril Sports Line" cream is very used by Portuguese barbers also - specially around Lisbon, where it is produced.
As for O Melhor, its packaging has an history - it is based on a vintage package of "powder shaving soap", produced by Confiança, that was available in the 1940's and widely used by portuguese barbers then.

    Good Morning !
    ~06/12/2012~

Semogue Owners Club 2Band \\ Merkur 1904 w/ Red IP \\ 3P Pre Per E Post Barba \\ Jabonman Evolution Line: Violetas \\ Nivea Replenishing Post Shave Balm

Oh JBM Violetas... A scent that smells magnificent really makes your morning that much better. I honestly don't know why I haven't finished it off but its that good. I wish JBM made this stuff into a hardsoap. I would truly love it in soap form. Making lather from a SSoap is lot more therapeutic/calming. Its the one thing that makes Wet Shaving amazing to me. I'm sure for others its the same. Any who, today's was certified BBS. Have a wonderful day my Friends!

I can't stop raving about my new Chubby 2...What an unbelievable brush, good backbone, soft tips (like a pillow against the face), very good flow thru (IMO)...I finally enjoyed using the Arlington soap and felt what a truly good soap it is...Maybe it's the brush. Have a great day gents!

    Tuesday Shave

Custom Shave Oil with Tea Tree & Menthol
    Arko SS
    Simpson Colonel X2L
    Gillette 1940s Superspeed
    Astra SP (2)
    Alum block
SCS "Santalum Album" Sandalwood Extract EDT with just a shot of AOS Sandalwood Essential Oil for balance...

DFS in 2 passes. Love the Superspeed/Astra combination. The shave oil was a nice addition this morning, though the Arko does a great job on its own.

Prep: Proraso pre-shave (new formulation) plus warm towels
    Razor: Weber with DLC coating
Blade: Gillette 7 O'clock green (made in India)
Brush: Simpson Berkeley 46 in best badger
    Cream: Speick
    Aftershave: Musgo Real AS balsam
    Cologne: None

The Weber was an interesting experience; the comments about it being more efficient rather than aggressive seem spot on.

It has enough mass to finally get the feel of "let the razor do the work;" all the other razors I have, including a Merkur 34G, didn't have enough heft. This one does.

The Gillette green was a little rough, but I did get a great shave. I'll try some different blades to see if I can find something smoother. If I can, it will displace the Muhle R89 as my daily shaver.

    Thanks for reading!
