Default A "case" for the Simpsons Case

I've been in the midst of Simpsons SBAD and I debated either getting a Commodore, Berkeley, or a Case. I wanted something to take on my small journeys I have planned for the Summer. I also wanted a good brush for face lathering. It's tough to take a scuttle or mug on the road and it's a good chance to use a soap stick and face lather away. I decided to go for the Simpsons Case. One of my reasons was that I had a travel tube that didn't fit my Special and I figured I'd keep the tube for a brush that would fit it, hence the Case. However, I did some research and figured I wanted something that was kind of like the Omega Mixed Midge but in best.
I got this little guy and my first impression was how solid and ergonomic it is to hold. Though I love my Wee, it's more of a treat to use and not for times I'm out on the road. I also noticed how short and dense the loft is.
My first shave with it was with some Tweex (rebranded Arko) and MAN, did this brush do its job. It's soft but super scrubby, just right for face lathering and a comfy massage. It created tons of lather as expected and demonstrated some excellent flow through. Turtle had said that the strong backbone is comparable to the small Chubby minus the extra density of the Chubby.
I'm very impressed with the Case. The shorter loft and dense knot makes it an ideal facelatherer and it bloomed quite nicely (as seen in pic 3). It's ideal for travel and/or everyday use. The size is not a detriment but an asset.
I also received my first Progress and it lives up to the positive hype. It's a nice hefty adjustable that can be as tame as any Tech or you can crank it up for some crazy aggressive shaving. Very nice design and the mechanism is very smooth. A little more versatile in it's adjustment than the Fatboy, but that's another review.
Anyways, with a new Dopp kit, Yuma razor box for the Progress, soap stick holder, and a small decanter of aftershave, I'm ready for whatever comes my way!

I'm trying to decide on a brush to fit the travel tube myself. I'm really looking hard at the Wee Scot but also the Case. You haven't exactly made the decision any easier.

I have been trying to decide which to keep for months now. Case or Duke 1

Well... End result... I CAN'T DECIDE... They are both killers and they both fit in the Simpsons travel tube. My tube is like the one Brucered has

decision, decisions...nice one to have though.

i'm sure i'll add a 2nd travel/camping brush to the den at some point. either a Classic or Duke 1.

it sure is nice to pull out a luxury simpson badger for travel. it gives that little sense of "home" when you are away. nice brush, nice cream, nice ASB to start the day.

mine has bloomed very nicely as well. the case is a terrific brush for travel or home

The tube I have has a circular hole that keeps the bottom of the handle from coming out and the cap has no holes. I wonder if this design works better than the older one.

I love the Wee but can be a bit cumbersome to use. However, it's a unique small brush with a super dense knot that is ideal for face lathering and surprisingly holds enough lather for 3-4 passes. It also dries quicker and lets you put lather where it needs to be.
The Case is more of a practical brush and like I've mentioned, feels very soft and scrubby (not scritchy at all). I've used it 3 times so far and I'm I don't regret the purchase. I've got the Special in pure for those days my face needs a nice exfoliation and the Colonel for a luxurious shave with my best creams. The Wee is for those days I want some variety.

I have both the Duke 1 and Case in Pure. Both are in my rotation. Both great brushes.

The Case pimp-slaps the ridiculous Wee Scot all over the block.

is it a Simpson Tube? and when was it purchased?

i like mine with a vent hole. even though i don't put it away damp, it may have some lingering dampness down in the knot that the air hole will keep from stinking up the brush. i've never seen a travel tube with NO air hole/vent

... or you could simply take your Turkish No.6. Krona Kruiser, isn't that a Bestshave Turkish No.6 all the way in the background? Should you lose it, it would be easy enough to replace and it is a great performer all around.

Good review. The Case is one of a few brushes on my consideration list.

I should say that I much prefer the style of Case case, err . . . tube, that turtle and brucered have. I would definitely want the ventilation holes, and I think that there is a stronger aesthetic appeal to that tube --it is more distinguishable from a common prescription tube. I like the off-white hue of the tube in brucered's image (which I think is the image on the official Simpsons site).

What kind of leather bag is that?

The Dopp Kit is made by Chaps. It's got a neat compartment on the bottom of the bag meant for toothbrushes, files, clippers, etc. It's perfect for a shave kit. I got it with tags that said $59.99 at a thrift shop for $4. Not a bad score for a new Dopp Kit.

Been using my Case the past few days with an IM stick and can't say enough good things about it.

great face lathering brush, holds enough for 2 passes plus, ultra soft and dries quickly.

not sure if I got an exceptionally good Case Best hair, but the one I have is incredibly soft with no scritch, it's pillowy soft. It's a couple years old and gets used about 20-30 times a year.

Oh yeah, the tube is awesome as well. Nice to have a bit of luxury when in hotels and camping and the Case won't break the bank. I see no reason to ever upgrade this little travel brush, unless of course Shavemac and Thater decide to make a nice little sub $50 travel brush a will compete with the Case
