Default Aromatics...does it matter which one?

After smoking cherry cavendish, Vermont maple, and Rumcake, I can't really tell the difference once I start smoking it. Does anyone else have this same experience? So in the end, once you find a quality aromatic tobacco, does it really matter which 'flavor' you go with?

They smell great, and taste the same...bad. Smoking those almost made me quit. Try a non-flavored tobacco. An English blend will smell aweful at first, but you will love it!

i also have Dunhill's Early Morning Pipe and Peterson's Old Dublin. i do agree that the non-aromatics stand out better.

There are quality aros out there. Erinmore Flake, MacBaren Navy Flake, Plum Cake I put in that category. Not heavy on the casing like the junky stuff.

Autumn evening is supposed to be a cased Virginia I think, but the casing seems to cover all the taste from the Va anyways. It's a good one tho.

I rarely disagree but I do on this one (which is fine and healthy, right?) I have a variety of aromatics and non-aromatics in my hoard of aging pipe tobaccos. For me personally, it's all about what I feel like and which pipe I want to smoke (I have 7, one for each day of the week because I smoke a bowl a day, rarely more). I enjoy and can tell the difference between the mass variety of pipe tobaccos. But just like shaving, it's all personal preference :)

I actually smoke aromatics most of the time. It's all a personally taste thing at the end of the day. I tried some latakia heavy blends at first, because that's what I read was the best type of tobacco, and hated every puff of it. I still am not a big fan of latakia to this day, some blends of it I like though.

I smoked a pricey flake tobacco today made by Peterson. Tasted like I was smoking a cigarette the entire time. Yuck!

There are good aromatics, and many that are not so good. Like most other tobaccos.

I only smoke Boswell aromatics. Most are really good and not heavily cased. You get the aroma but still taste the tobacco.

I smoke aro's too and it's trial and error. They all smell great in the room and in the bag, but some do lose any flavor and sort of "disappear". One of my favorites is just a straight up black cavendish. Extremely mild flavor with a great scent and room note. Good end of the day smoke that doesn't weigh heavy on the palate.

Some just have too much PG and they smoke like a wet sock.
