    Default Bay rum for beginners.

Guys. All this talk is making want to try Bay rum a little more. I currently have a 2oz bottle of Ogallala Bay Rum Cologne. I do like it but SWMBO says it's horrible. I cut it with a little Alcolado Glacial splash just to water it down. As I say I like it but she aint digging it. Advice is requried for something both I and SWMBO likes.

    Thanks in advance.

Masters Bay Rum smells good but isn't quite as strong as Ogallala. That one might work.

Ogalla is a little sweet to me and the wife could not stand it.

The best bay rum that smells of just bay rum is Superior70. It does not have added clove, allspice, vanilla etc. You may want to try it.

Masters does fade a little quicker. I have Masters and Pinaud (clubman). I like them both but they do have very disctinct differences. Seems some Bay Rum is more Bay'y then Rum'y. :)

Masters would be my next try.. then maybe clubman.

+1 But my face does not consider Ogallala to be too stingy, I use the Bay Rum and Sandalwood which I consider fairly smooth. Masters does have a very very nice rich scent.

I'm not a fan of Ogallalalala. I prefer SCS. There's tons out there, though. Have a great time sampling them.

Captain's choice Bay Rum will have you feeling fresh and clean. I discovered it about a month ago and it simply completes my shave.

I like Pinaud, Master, and Stephan. Stephan is the mildest, and very soothing.

You might order a sample of Saint Charles Shave's Bay Rum (order some sandalwood while you're at it!).
Masters and SCS are 2 of my favorites.

I ordered some St Charles samples the other day. Honestly I was disappointed. The Sandalwood is ok, the Pachtouli was... eh...

Of course YMMV... Pehaps their Bay Rum is the Bay Rum Bomb. :)

I would recommend Captains Choice. Very mild, very soothing.

I would like to try Captains Choice some day (~$17), but right now I'm happily working my way through a bottle of Superior 70 (~$1). Good stuff.

I tried the Pinaud Virgin Island Bay Rum and at first didn't like it because the smell was reminiscent of certain brands of Spanish rubbing alcohol, or "alcolado", but I must admit that it has grown on me. I was able to purchase a bottle on sale for $3.99 while on my travels in Georgia. I might have to leave it behind when I head back home to Nevada as the cap is not very sturdy and might spill in my suitcase. I'm a definitely sure my wife will probably not like the scent, but we can't please everyone!
