Default The backside of the strop

    Hey all,

I posted a little while ago about the strop I made, and today I decided to sand the reverse side to see if I could create a second stropping surface. After a lot of sanding (and using a DE to shave off the fibers that were loosened) it now feels exactly like suede.

Normally for something like this I would just try it out and compare my results, but I'm very new to straight razors so I'm not qualified to assess the results. So here's my question for you guys:

Do any of you use a swede component and what can you tell me about it?

    Thanks!
    - Sam

My Kanayama suede second component feels nice and grippy under the razor. I only use Kamisori, but the suede does a nice job of cleaning off the blade prior to finishing it off on the cordovan.

I believe it is less abrasive than linen, so it might be a good candidate for submicron nano sprays. I don't have the cajones to spray my Kanayama tho

I used to use the backside if my TM Starter strop that I had also buffed and sanded as you describe. Seemed nice enough, not sure if it added anything to the shave, but what the heck?

    She will forgive you.

By they way cajones-means big boxes, drawers

Cojones means what you think it means

You need big cajones to put big cojones in.

An "A" here, an "E" there, I'm an American so you can't expect me to pay attention to the nuances of foreign languages Ameegoe!

Either way, between tu and moi, I am gunning for a Damascus BB custom Kamisori- although I only have budgeted for a plain steel one. Guess who has my Cojones in her cajones?

It will work nicely. As long as it has a nice and even surface
