    Default Colgate Optic White Toothpaste

Has anyone here used this? I've been using it for about a month and I think my teeth do look a bit whiter definitely.

I had a question though as on the tube it says use of more than 6 weeks should be monitored by a dentist? So I can't use this paste for more than 6 weeks?

From what I understand it's got a very mild amount of hydrogen peroxide, which is what professionals use in stronger doses to whiten teeth.

I imagine the warning is there because prolonged usage could lead to some teeth sensitivity and/or gum damage. Still, it's not as strong or risky as using whitening strips for a lengthy period of time.

Lay off for a while if you begin to experience any sensitivity. All sensitivity experienced with either strips or dental bleaching has shown to be reversible so do not worry about any long-term effects. I doubt that you will feel any sensitivity as I do not feel those whitening toothpaste are effective due to their low concentrations of hydrogen peroxide and short term contact-they may remove a little of extrinsic staining from diet, smoking, etc. but for intrinsic staining try the strips or something stronger.

Weird I've been using "whitening" toothpaste for a long time now. The strips were strong, I don't notice much with the various toothpastes.

I went through 2 tubes and never noticed a significant difference. Then again, my teeth are pretty white as it is. YMMV.

I would be very careful putting strong whitening chemicals like that into my mouth. You are likely going to swallow a small amount inadvertently but certainly absorb a lot of it. For the small benefit that it does give, is it really worth it? Sorry to be a downer, but I myself just feel strongly that a big reason why cancer is such a huge problem in our society is that we continue to use these products that are filled with questionable chemical ingredients that have not been fully examined to see if they are carcinogenic. Certainly any product that warns not to use it for more than 6 weeks would cause the warning lights and alarm bells to ring for me.

I know I also use a lot of products that are questionable, hard to get away from it. But I try to limit it as much as possible. For teeth whitening, something that most people won't even notice a difference from before when you are using a toothpaste to do it, I just would not bother.
