Default Packaging mistake or Real Razor?

I recently bought a Gold Plated Progress and the box it came in has the adjustment in the wrong end of the handle.

It shows the adjuster under the head at the TOP of the handle like Gillette adjustables.

Was a Progress ever made like this or did the people doing the artwork for the package use some creativity?

I wonder if they just didn't see the razor when putting the graphics together for the box or if they got it wrong some other way.. Is there a 'TOP DIAL' Progress. OOOOoooooohhhhh!!??

    Here's some pictures.

Well thats odd. I'd chalk it up to a marketing dept trick.

I know they dont make the razor with the adjuster up there, it has to be a mistake by the Ad agency or printer.

Well I guess they wanted to convey the message through picture that this razor is an adjustable. However with the limited space they chose to show more importance on the name and brand logo leaving just enough space for a partial razor. Showing you the true bottom end only would probably confuse the buyer but showing you the top of a razor you can immediately tell its a razor being sold. I assume liberties were taken to showcase both a razor and the adjustment.

Merkur made a Progress razor with the adjustment knob underneath the razors head. Here you can read something about the model:

Bakerbarber, it is possible that the former owner of your razor put that razor in a different box. But It could also be possible that Merkur sold your razor in boxes that showed the bakelite razor.

I have it. The gold one.

Very nice, but it had what I thought was a very old razor blade in it. It wasn't rusty or dirty, just an old brand. It had a Pal Hollow Ground blade in it.

I thought the razor may be 60's or as old as 80's and the blade inside looks to be from the 50's..

I have been traveling and do not have time to take my own pictures. Gold Progress do not pop up too often. This one is nicely preserved and has very little signs of age or wear. A good early birthday present to myself- among others...

Oel, thank you for the link. Very nice white bakelite model I've never seen before!! I copied the images from the link for reference.

When I was younger we used to see a white deer in the woods. We always looked for the white deer when hunting. I would wonder to myself if I saw it, whether I would actually shoot it. I never saw the white deer when hunting, and I hope that if I had I would let him go.

That adjustable is cool. It's my new 'white deer' - only if I ever see him, I will take the shot..

Well thats interesting. Wonder if its a case of using up old stock of boxes during a change over to a new model of razor?
