Got the mug, but alas, no soap

I have been fortunate over the past few months and have found 3 vintage OS mugs at my local antique stores, along with a few pucks of vintage Williams soap. Tuesday, on a whim, after having lunch with my family, I took a walk downtown and what did I see in the window.....

A pristine 1950/60's OS mug. It is essentially flawless, aside from the fact it had no vintage OS soap in it

I have another mug identical to this one, and fortunately, both are in identical condition. The only difference between the mugs is the number on the bottom. This one sports a number 9, while the other one is marked with a number 21.

Still looking for that "white whale"- the vintage OS soap.

Nice looking mug. Almost any of the round pucks of soap will fit in it. Not sure on finding any vintage soap pucks though.

Looks great Joe, just like the day it rolled off the production line. You've definitely had some great luck finding the OS mugs. The numbers on the bottom I believe identified the mold the mug was made in, for quality control.

Regardless, they are just fantastic mugs. I have a Surrey mug my daughter got me for Christmas. She found it at an antique store in Knoxville. It is a beautiful mug, but is very deep. The shallow depth of the OS mugs make them ideal for loading soap.

I have a couple Surrey mugs, and they are pretty narrow and deep, but they are cool looking. If you ever find any of the Surrey soap it is really, really good stuff. Here's a Surrey set I found awhile back, the brush isn't too bad actually.

My mug is quite different. I'll try to post a pick of it tomorrow. Speaking of Surrey Soap, there is a puck at a local antique store in Kingsport, where I live. $2. Guess I'll pick that up next week.

Definitely. If it's sealed in the cellophane like the one in my picture above that is tallow based.

I've been on the lookout for one of the OS mugs from Crooksville, OH, if what I've heard is correct that they were indeed produced in Crooksville at one time. My parents grew up there, and my grandparents still live there, right off the highway. Crooksville is well-known around here for its pottery — the high school football team is the Ceramics — but I feel a bit nostalgic there. I should probably check the 'bay, but I'd rather look around for a local antique place first.

Ah the OS soap. I was fortunate to have had my wife find six pucks once at a thrift store. Sold three on the bay, one here on bst on the cheap and pif'd one as a Christmas present to a member here. The sixth?..my wife sold accidentally on her ebay thinking it was the fith soap she was auctioning off. LOL Had to send it as someone had bid on it. Oh well, good times. Found Provence Sante Green Tea though, so all is good. One day I'll find one in the wild again. Good luck with your hunt and man, that picture that you took is vivid! Nice shot.

Head down to ur local Wally world and get a pick of VDH soap, it's cheap and will lather beautifully in that mug!!!

Yikes! I got the one above for $8. I have seen many post on this board they have bought OS mugs far cheaper than that, however, I am thrilled to get one in this condition for $8.
