    Default Waterman Charleston

Hey Gents, haven't posted that much lately....life's been getting in the way. I'm having a problem that some of you may have already encountered and I'd like to know how you fixed it, if possible. My Waterman Charleston has been leaking quite a bit around the converter (I think) and it happens while the cap is on. The way I always find it is when I take the cap off to write, it gets all over my fingers, lol.

I'm using Noodler's Baystate Blue exclusively, and use it in all my pens. I've taken the pen apart and cleaned all the parts, dried them and re assembled and filled. It leaked again by morning. So, I'm wondering if it's the ink. Which would make me sad because I really like the color, so much so that it's the only color I now use.

Any help or experiences you gents have had will be appreciated.

Flush it and fill with water. If it leaks, it isn't the ink

Noodler's ink is a very lubricating ink. Try another ink such as Waterman Florida Blue.

Is the feed lined up correctly with the Nib? If not this could cause a leak...don't ask me what happened that I know this.

Drained it, cleaned it and filled with water....now we wait ;-)

One question though, wouldn't water have a greater surface tension than say an ink? Don't they add lubricants to ink to make them flow better? That was two questions, lol

Edit: oh, and I checked the alignment of the nib...it was good to go.

Check the ink collector piece and section for small cracks...I had a pen recently that had a hairline crack along the ink collector which caused it to leak ink...I couldn't even see the crack until I flushed the collector with the converter hooked up to it but the section removed. Water came out of the crack and that's how I found it.
