    Default Pre de Provence quality

I have a very broad liberal understanding of the YMMV factor but I'm astonished at the consideration of putting Pre de Provence in the worst soap thread. I confess, this is too much for me to comprehend. I'm curious what the opinions are about this soap.

One of my favorite scents, and a wonderful performer.

Consistently a strong performer for me. I like the tin container for traveling, and the scent is quite nice (and subdued).

I haven't really run across many soaps I thought were truly bad soaps, most are at least serviceable. I'd say I'm indifferent to PdP, it's an o.k. soap, I just have others I prefer much more.

I'd say it's a good soap, but not one of the best. There's no "vote" for this.

I find it to be an excellent soap. I am a fan of shea butter French soaps...they're great on my skin. Great rosemary scent...classy

As I stated earlier, its not that good on its own. The scent is (took me about 80 seconds to come up with something non-offensive) like a regular, hand soap. I'm no Marco the Maestro but I can whip up a wicked bowl of lather when I'm facing west.. and this soap was just airy and fluffy and insignificant on the face. It paired well though with some Omega cream.

Currently my favorite soap (its been my favorite for a while now, so maybe it is my favorite. Hmm.) Great scent, great performer.

    YMMV blah blah blah

I really like PdP soap. Nice and slick with a great scent too. Their AS balm is also great. It's a shame the PdP cream is a terrible performer.

Great lather, poor protection. I love the richness and feel of the lather, but I can't get a good shave with it.

The soap for me is middle of the road. A good soap, nothing more. For quite some time I've been using it to superlather proraso just to finish off the tin. Together those two are outstanding but I don't see myself purchasing the PdP soap again. Too many other products I prefer. The PdP balm is another story. I really like that stuff.

Never tried it, but I am sure I will sometime down the road. If it's anything like Cade, I can't wait to give it a go.
Just like some love and some don't like PdP, Cade, my favourite, is in the same boat. However, it is crazy that a soap can be many people's favourite, and be someone else's least favourite.

One of my favorites. One of the easiest lathers I've made from a hard soap, practically throws itself onto my brush. Smells great to me, has decent slickness, and leaves my freshly shaven face feeling like a million bucks. Affordable, too. Consider my mileage varied, I suppose.

+1 It's definately one of the better soaps, but it's not one of the best. As always YMMV though :)

Great Soap Great scent one of my favorites. I like it better than Provence Sante and IK. The only french soap this is better IMHO is MdC.

Really really nice, one of the best. The ASB is superb, as is the 100% shea butter, and the body soaps.

i'm in the "PdP is one of the best soaps for the money" category. I really enjoy the fragrance, find it very easy to lather, especially with a boar brush, and think the lather to be very creamy and protective.

Also, I do like the aluminum container. Some mention it as being good for travel... I will refute this, as I did use PdP during my travels last summer, and though there was nothing functionally wrong with the container, it's just to darn big to be considered travel size. I might as well take my glass Tabac or wood Geo F. Trumper bowls, they would take about the same amount of space. If there was a 2 ounce size in a similar container, that would be perfect and probably make it's way into my dopp bag on a regular basis.

Alas, as a final thought, and like others commented, I just like other soaps better than PdP so don't use it much.
Well, my days of not taking you seriously are definitely coming to a middle

I have no problem lathering MWF, Tabac, Cade, DR Harris soaps or T & H Luxury Shaving soap, but for the life of me I could never get PdP to build a lather. We don't have issues with our water so I don't know why this soap is a particular issue. I tossed it after trying to lather it with a variety of different wetting and brush techniques.

It has very nice, unique scent and lathers nice and easy it provides excellent shaves and leaves you face feeling good and well taken care of. What more can you ask for? I will always keep it in my den.
