Default Pacquiao Vs Bradley-outcome discussion ... SPOILER ALERT WE SAY WHO WON

I posted last month on the Mayweather vs Cotto fight and got some terrific and insightful responses from boxing fans on here. Would love to know what you all think of this fight. Unfortunately, I won't be able to watch this one as I'll be visiting friends out of town and otherwise obligated. Will have to view it later when HBO rebroadcasts so NOBODY TELL ME HOW IT ENDS!

The outcome of this doesn't seem as certain as the Mayweather/Cotto fight. Pac's last performance suggested to me that he has lost a little in terms of speed and reflex. He's still fast, strong and has the best balance of any fighter in the ring, but he seemed puzzled by Marquez's strategy in a way that had me worried. My hunch is that his non-boxing activities are distracting him from focusing on boxing, specifically time spent training which reinforces muscle memory.

I've seen at least two of Bradley's fights and the only thing I saw in the ring that would give him a chance against Pacman is his head and chin. The man can take a punch and give a headbutt. I can see him taking Pac's punches and then engaging close and causing an accidental headbutt which might end the fight early. If the cards go his way, then he could win. Don't think he's fast enough or strong enough to knock Manny out.

    Prediction: Manny by split decision.

Of course, this could go anyway. I honestly don't know which Pacquiao will show up. Pretty sure we know which Bradley will.

I saw a recent promo show for the fight, doing in-depth on both fighters.

Pacman's trainer (IIRC, or was is Manny himself) said that the Marquez fight wasn't his best because they left out an aspect of his training. They also interviewed his wife who admitted that their marriage was a little turbulent then so she figured Manny was disctrcted ... but now things are all patched up & happy. Either way, the impression was that the less-than-stellar Pacquiao we saw that time would't be showing up this time.

I say Pacman in a very close fight: split decision. I'm kinda of suspect on the Pacman because of his less than stellar performance on his last couple of fights. Bradley is a beast and he is a very formidable opponent but it's hard 2 go against Manny.

Rocky II ... champ has too much fun being champ and loses focus, doesn't train hard enough ... gets beaten up.

I think we're all wondering if this is what we're going to see again.

I can think of a real life example. Ali. Just did not train as hard for fights in the second half of his career as his first. Never worry about that with B-Hop, but on the surface of things, it appears to be happening with Manny. Like Ali, he's so much better than all of his opponents that he can be careless and still win. The problem is, just like Ali, he'll end up taking lots more punches and ending his career that much sooner.

I won't tell you how it ended, but I'd really like to know what you thought of the fight after you see it.

I watched the whole fight, to me it was the worst scoring I have ever seen, this may be the end of boxing as a top sport, at least to me anyway

    Jonathan,
Though not at home and unable to watch the fight, once back in my hotel room, pulled up a live blogging feed from the fight and so the outcome is known to me. I've read a bunch of commentary already this morning, but would really like to know what you thought of it. I will have to wait a week to watch the replay on HBO (unless one of my ne'er do well friends downloads it from a disreputable site) and will share what I think then. Meanwhile, do you agree with everyone else on this? Was it really that obvious?

Boxing seems to be able to withstand more corruption, cheating and incompetence than any other sport. The only cure for this is a national commission. Not perfect, but what we have today is a joke.

Didn't watch the fight. I haven't watched boxing in years, and I don't know anyone in my circle of life who was as big a boxing fan as I was. One day I dropped boxing like a bad habit and went 100% MMA fan for combat sports and haven't looked back since. From what I've read, this is just another reason for me to keep not watching.

It was absolutely farcical, from what I have read and heard (some lads at work really like boxing and sounded off on it this morning). I haven't watched boxing in some time and likely won't if this is the sort of result one can expect.

All those Soviet sporting judges have to do something since the fall of Communism.

The scoring was rigged...I'm not sure Bradley won 1 round let alone a split decision. That may have been the last boxing fight I ever watch. That fight was a perfect example of why Las Vegas will never be awarded a major professional sports team.

You would think in order to be a Judge of any sort you would have to be a past member of the sport. The same with MMA.

Thread title changed ... it's pretty easy to tell already by the posts above that Pacman lost ... so ... let's be up-front about it and get on with chatting about whether or not it was the robbery of the Century!!

It was robbery all right. Maybe not of the century - but what I wonder what those two judges saw. Fewer punches, less powerful punches, and they pick him as the winner.

+1... very shocked on the rigged outcome. I was amazed that Pacman remained gentlemanly in "defeat" after he was robbed. The world knows the Pacman won but boxing is full of corrupt sharks.

Agreed, with the most pro-Bradley of eyes, I watched the fight again yesterday at my friends house where we watched the fight. Non-drinking, cold-viewing, Bradley could have won 2, maybe 3, rounds at most. The judges were either bought off, horribly misguided in doing 'what is best for boxing', or completely inept. Either way, they should never judge another fight, an official investigation should be done by the state, and any upstanding sports-book should boycott the promoter's future bouts until a verdict is rendered.

Personally, I will most definitely not be watching the rematch and would encourage everyone else to do the same. Such a crooked sport does not deserve nor will receive my patronage.

Yeah, Manny won that fight AFAIC. I'll stop short of saying it war rigged or that the judges are crooked, because sometimes the guys at ringside see a completely different fight from their angles than we see from the 10 Hi-Def cameras with the benefit of replay. But it really IS hard for me to believe they were watching the same fight I saw.
