I don't usually like vintage brush handles, but that one looks quite handsome. Might have just found the next stage to my shaving hobby.

Wet Sanding. This one had quite a few cracks around the knot hole, so I started with a coarse fingernail file on that part.

The balance of the handle was started at 220Grit, then a wipe with tack cloth, then 400, tack, then 800, tack, then 1500, tack, then 2000, another wipe with tack cloth.

After that I used Crystal Clear polish for watch crystals, rub it in with a natural sponge, then buff it off with microfiber. I put about four coats on with a tack cloth wipe in between each polish. Then a final polish with Plastix by meguiars.

That's a beautiful restore, and that's going to be a fun brush to use.

I like your polishing steps. I've used 400 grit to take out deep scratches or to remove ugly seams followed by 2000 wet/dry and the Meguiars Plastix, but seeing your excellent results makes me think I'm leaving it a little short.

I love that handle shape and have several like it with another currently in transit.

    Thanks for the tips!
