Default Proraso AS "new" formula pics

A few pics of the new AS from Proraso for those who haven't seen the packaging, bottle, labels...

Haven't used it yet but the scent and colour in the bottle IS different. SWMBO did the comparison and stated that both smelt "nice" but the new formula had a slightly more subtle medicinal scent compared to the "fresher, soft citrus" (her words, not mine) of the original.

    Will review performance tomorrow.

At first I was put off by the Proraso Aftershave. I was wanting it to smell like the shave cream. But now that I like it. A lot! Im a little worried about this new formulation.
I like the new bottle though. Cant wait to here of your experience with this.

    Apologies to mods,

I should have put this here to begin with...

The proraso AS I got recently looks different so must be the old one. I find it has a very weak scent which is disappointing to me.

I agree blades however that's what I like about it.

I treat it like a super-charged WH (which it contains as well as a host of other skin-friendly goodies) and because it's scent dissipates I can layer a cologne over the top. It's more about healing than smelling if that makes sense.

The old Burts Bees Bay Rum (empty/discontinued) was the only AS I used "on it's own" without putting a scent on top.

+1 This AS is a real treat for my skin. I love it.

I have both and have just stocked up on the "old" formula. The "new" has a much milder menthol kick than the original(YMMV), and as your wife correctly says, it has a "slightly more subtle medicinal scent" to it. I am using it without problem, but whether I'll buy the new formula again is open to question.

    Yeah, I think that's how I'll use it now...as Step 1. Step 2 a EDT or cologne.

I'm taking the same approach to the "old" Proraso balm.

Great photos! Thank goodness it's still in glass. I have a bottle of the old formulation, which is as stated mild and can be layered over with cologne. Curious about this new formula business.

The old formula is perfect for me. Not sure why they changed it.

I like the new box and bottle. But why they had to go and change the formula, I'll never understand. It was perfect just the way it was. I'll give the new one a try, though the descriptions here don't sound too promising.

I ordered a big barber size bottle of the new Proraso splash (I thought I was getting the old version). I haven't used it yet but to my nose smells very similar to the old splash. The old splash and liquid cream are the only Proraso products I've ever used and I love them but I'm waiting on a huge shipment from Barbiere Di Figaro with almost all of the new Proraso products.... including the new blue aftershave balm (it's the only site I've seen that sells it other than Ebay). That website has a great "package deal" on Proraso products where they sell the preshave creams, shave creams and shave soaps together at a discount. The biggest catch is that if you live in the U.S. you have to pay for shipping. Still, it's a great deal if you're ready and willing to enter the "world of Proraso" all at once as I am. I love the new packaging compared to the old..... but I'm afraid I will be unable to compare the new products' performance to the performance of the old since I've never used anything except the aftershaves.

Tried the AS this AM. Certainly less of a menthol kick and a little less "sting" but once the fragrance dissipated the performance and feel on the face was identical to old form.

    Agreed.

If you make it a complete Proraso green shave, you don't really notice the slight decrease in kick of the new AS. The after effects (i.e., facial goodness) between the two are comparable.

I don't have the $ or the room to stockpile bottles of the old formula; fortunately, the new AS formula is probably the closest to the old of any of the Proraso green reformulations I've tried (SC, pre-shave and AS splash).
